If I stay at the Royal Plaza at Downtown Disney (it says it's in the Walt Disney World Resort) would I still get to take advantage of the WDW Extra Magic Hours or would I have to stay at a Disney owned and operated resort???

I don't believe so...

As far as I know only WDW hotels are included as well as the Swan and Dolphin.

The DTD hotels are not included.

Someone else posted recently that the DTD Hilton is included in EMH, but that's the only DTD hotel that is. I don't know that myself since I never stayed there, so verify!

I think you are right on the Hilton...

I think the Swan, Dolphin and Hilton got grandfathered in, etc.

We stayed there in December and again last month specifically for that reason. None of the other DTD hotels get EMH.

Yeah, we stayed at the Hilton in DTD once a dew years ago and were allowed to stay for the extra magic hours. I think that is the only DTD hotel allowed for extra magic hours.

Add Shades of Green to Disney-owned Resorts,Swan and Dolphin and Hilton@ DTD and that is the complete list.:)

Um, well, it's not exactly that they got grandfathered (technically, this would only have applied to Shades of Green since The Disney Company never owned the other hotels - just the land on which they're built). These properties pay Walt Disney World a fee so their Guests can participate in Extra Magic Hours.

Of course...

But, they are also older hotels on WDW property as well...

Oh, absolutely! And to make matters worse - well, more annoying - at one time, all seven (at the time) hotels did participate. Guests of any HPB hotel were entitled to, I think it was E-nights at the Magic Kingdom - just so everybody knows how long ago it was :)

And the DTD hotels at one time had WDW transportation, until they opted out, and got their own transportation. Bad move on their part, IMHO! Not nearly as convenient as WDW transp.

No... I think Hilton in the WDW Resort is the only non-disney resort that is allowed to participate in extra magic hours.

As stated previously, the Swan/Dolphin is also non-Disney resorts that does have the EMH.

I wonder if the new holiday inn at DTD will be added to the EMH. It looks like a nice hotel. I don't know if I would stay there or not because I read a review on the hotel and it plans on charging 10 dollars a day to park if you stay there.

Has anyone stayed at the Hilton recently? Might book a room, and would appreciate the feedback.

We stayed at DTD Hilton last month and in December. Very nice hotel - clean, convenient, etc. We didn't use the busses, since we had our own car, but they seemed to run frequently. We did the EMH (including MK till 2am) and never had trouble finding a parking space when we got back to the hotel. You can also walk across the street to DTD. We will definitely be staying there again.:thumbsup2

It would depend on whether they wanted to pay the money to use the service - the other resorts that do participate are paying for the priviledge of using the EMH's. No doubt if the Holiday Inn decided to do it, they would probably have to pass the cost onto their customers.....just a thought.

Yep, I just compared the rates per night for Holiday Inn compared to the Hilton.

I doubt they can afford to pay for the extra money for EMH's - the Hilton however appears that it could.
