the rate from AAA was 185.00/per night.i am not a loews member, not sure how to become one?we had debated staying at the hard rock which was only about 10.00 more a night since it is closer to the entrance of us.i know they have the water taxi to the parks, but i am thinking i probably would have to fold up my double stroller to go on that,so we will most likely just walk.i was told it was about a 10 min walk.

You should also call and ask for a FAN club rate, or Annual Pass rate. In Nov. We got a 147 AP and 167 AAA. For Loews go to Loewshotels.com it's free. You get a free bottle of wine or milk and cookies at check in, Earn frequent flier miles, free use of gym, and more. If the boat's not too crowded, they let you just wheel it on sometimes. All the boats take you to citiwalk for an equal walk to IOA and Universal. The walk from Royal Pacific is pretty nice and short. If you already have tickets, a short cut to Universal is as you pass the Hard Rock Live, make a quick left, and it brings you into the park right by Nick.

The entertainment card rates are usually good, though not as good lately but can be found. I called for 3 different weeks in Augusts' prices for all three hotels and got the RPR for $119/night with the card. Good luck.

DISNEMOM-
you might want to check the US/IOA Hotels link which holds a plethora of info on RPR.

I also got the Entertainment Card rate of $119 for RPR 8/29 to 9/1. I also inquired about the AAA, the FanClub and Loews membership rates and Entertainment card was the best offer. Also, you can now find the Entertainment book on sale for $10 and with the great rate on the hotels its an excellent investment. Good luck!

Just wanted to add that the Hard Rock is an excellent location, especially if you take the short cut past the pool through the parking lot. They have never made me fold my stroller to get on the boats. They have made jokes like you should never disturb a quiet baby and such.Even if he was not in the stroller, I pushed it right on.

We stayed at RPR last week and loved it... the boats never had more than a handful of people on them, and those with strollers just rolled right on. They come quickly, as well, and beat that extra needless walk =) Which is pretty, but come on, we walk all day! The ride is gorgeous and relaxing =)

Highly recommend it!

We love RPR! We have stayed there twice and can't wait to go back. The only reason why we are staying at HRH and PBH this next trip is to try those hotels as well.

Have fun!

thanks everyone for all the info.i did check into the entertainment book rate and it was 250/per night!i guess i'll stick w/the AAA rate.

That does not sound like an ENT rate. If you are trying to check that online, you can't. If you try to check it online it will give you just a normal seasonal rate. You have to call 1-800-BE-A-STAR to check the ENT rate.

fyi-last night i called the #in the ent book listed next to royal pacific 800/883/6943 and the guy told me i could not book that hotel through him,i had to go to their website and do it.that's when i got the 250/night rate.today i called the 800/be/a/star,and asked for the ent rate.nothing available at rpr,but hrh was 199.00/night.thanks for all your tips,i'll try back again later to see if i can get a better rate.

We stayed at the R.P R last year and are looking to stay again next may 05.
We booked direct with them and got a rate of $199.OO WITH 2 BREAKFASTS.
Can I ask you all how do you get these different rates i,e A.A.A., ENT CARD ETC?
Would be gratefull if anybody can give me any info in being able to get a better rate.
Has anybody stayed on the club level as well?
We are lowes 1st members. but I don't think that gives us a better rate.
Many thanks

hi chucklechops-

i call universal and ask for the AAA rate-you do need to show your AAA card at check in.also,on the universal website, you can check the rates and put in AAA for a better rate.the entertainment book has a phone # to call for rates on different hotels.also, there is a fanclub rate, which i am told you get through your employer as some kind of a bonus.hope this helps, although my rate is 185/night at rpr w/no free breakfasts, and other people say they have gotten 119/night.i just plan on calling and checking to see if rates change at all, since i have 5 days before check in to cancel the ressie i have right now.

Thank's for your advice, but Im afraid I need some more!!
Am I right in thinking that if you are a member of the AA you can tap into the AAA rates over there?
Q2, How do I get an entertainment card and how does it work etc, Can you get it over here in the u.k? how much does it cost and how long is it valid for? What do you actually get by having it, yes Im sorry there are sooooooo many ?'s but Iv'e never come across this card before and if it can get me a better rate at the RPR i might be able to stay longer !!!
Many, Many thanks.

hi chucklechops-
if you have AAA(automobile association of america)you have a AAA card.they provide towing service and also travel agents.you pay a yearly fee to have this, around 50.00/year.you can have the travel agents book things for you,or when you do,just ask if they have a AAA rate.for the entertainment card,it is a book of coupons(for restaurants, airlines, etc) that you buy, they come out every year, you can buy them at banks or online at entertainment.com, and probably other places.i think they are about 10.00 right now.there is a card in the book that has a membership # on it.in the back, there are hotels listed w/a phone # to call to make a ressie at a discounted price,or you can go online to their website to check hotels that they offer discounts.when you check in,you must have the card.the coupons and card expire 11/1/04.i am not sure if you can get them where you live, but check on their website.hope this helps!

From what I understand, AA in the UK is not associated with AAA in the states, so I don't know if the discount would apply. I would phone the resort to be sure. Will ask my hubby again too.

edit,, ok, hubby was no help,, but I think someone will be along who knows for sure. ;)

What would I do without you all !!!!
Thank's for helping, have just rang the Royal pacific, but there still not booking for may 28th 05, Guess I will just have to keep ringing,
Thank's again

I just found some useful info for you CC! I hope it will be useful anyway,,

Hubby was no help when I asked him about the AA /AAA thing,, so I did some research and came across this:

http://www.theaa.com/services/savings_usa.html?page=usa

Travelling to the USA or Canada? As an AA member you'll find you can save money on just about everything that makes a great holiday, from car hire to real American burgers.

Over 50,000 businesses participate in the 'Show Your Card & Save' scheme, run by the American Automobile Association (AAA), and they're easily recognised by the 'Show Your Card & Save' sticker displayed in the window or on the cash register. Simply show your AA membership card to receive your discount.

apparently you have to send off for an 'American Pack' by dialing the number on the back of your AA card. Some of the discounts would definately come in handy.

Up to 20% discount on standard car rental at Hertz
10% discount at Amtrak
10% discount on one day tours at Grayline
Lowest rates for certain accomadation
Up to 20% at Choice Hotels International
10% discount at Hard Rock Cafe (food, non-alcoholic drinks, authentic merchandise, admission to the Vault)
10% entry discount to SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Sesame Place, Water Country USA and Adventure Island
2- and 3-day entry discounts to Universal Orlando (plus 10% off selected souvenirs and dining locations and Universal CityWalk)
One day entry discount to Universal Studios Hollywood
20% savings at Reebok Outlet Store (inc. Greg Norman, Rockport and Ralph Lauren)
10% discount at Sunglass Hut/Watch Station/Watch World

Dunno if the LOEW'S Hotels are included,,but send off for the pack, and I think it has a full list of what is discounted with your AA card.
