I have plans for a two night getaway to orlando at the end of May with my boyfriend. Were both in out mid-twenties and really need a relaxing getway. I've been doing my research on both resorts and I can't decide between the Royal Pacific or Portofino Bay Hotel. The Portofino looks amazing and the rooms are gorgous. Although the Royal Pacific's pool looks appealing as well. We plan on going to Islands of Adventure and Universal but really want to relax at the resort as well. Royal Pacific is asking $183 a night and the Portofino is asking $231 a night both standard rooms. Is it worth the extra $115 total to stay at the Portofino or should I just save it and stay at the Royal Pacific? Thank You

:welcome: :disrocks: I find PBH more relaxing, romantic and usually less kids. That said, we stay at RPR all of the time for FOTL.

Been to all three Universal resorts. The Royal Pacific is still my favorite (not just because of price). I like the theme and the walk to the parks is not as far as Portifino's. If you insist on spending more - upgrade to club level at the Royal Pacific.

One thing we love about staying on site at Universal is that is is so relaxing. The FOTL makes all the difference and we find that we enjoy the hotels just as much as the parks. That being said, I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either hotel. I do think that the RPR does attract more families with smaller children thatn the other 2. I think the PBH has less families than the other 2. Both hotels are beautiful. My choice is always the PBH we just love the theme of the hotel and although so close to the parks feels like a million miles away. Very relaxing pool area as there are 2 pools conveniently located one beach pool with a slide and the villa pool, very quiet with cabana rental and jacuzzi pools. At night the Piazza area is nice for an evening stroll, have a night cap or a gelato....you actually forget you are in Orlando.

don't let the pool be the deciding factor.

universal encourages you to visit the other on site hotel pools.
if you are staying at one hotel, you have the right to go to the other two.

Hubby and I have stayed at both. Both are very relaxing and wonderful.

Rooms at PBH are larger.

Pools are excellent at both. Easy to get to parks from either, short boat ride. Room service great at both. Good restaurant choices at both, great bars at both.

If you can swing it, I would go with PBH, if not go to RPR, you won't be disappointed in either, trust me.

We've stayed at all three of the Universal hotels, as well. We just stayed at PBH in January. It really is a lovely resort. The rooms are so nice and quite large. There is absolutely no comparison between the bathroom in a room at PBH and the bathrooms at RPR. The PBH bathroom is beautiful! Now, don't get me wrong, I really like RPR and have stayed there three times. However, PBH is more luxurious, pools are beautiful, it's calm and romantic and only a short water taxi ride to the parks and Citywalk.

I vote for PBH.

P.S. - You will love FOTL - It's the best :goodvibes
