I'm going to be "that guy" that's hoping to be able to sneak in his favorite college football team's game during our trip to Universal at the Royal Pacific next month. I have no idea when and what channel it'll be on, thanks to the silly policy of not setting that until a week and a half before the game. My bottom line is that I can bring our laptop along and stream it via our YouTube TV subscription either live or on a replay...but I'd rather connect it to the TV in the room. (I may have to pay for the upgraded wifi for that, though.) But how easy or difficult would it be to connect my older Windows laptop's HDMI port to the room TV at the Royal Pacific?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to try to pull off a stunt like this. Ideally, my game would be on in primetime on one of the major networks that's already on the room TV, but I think that's unlikely. (Hoping for primetime because we're not going to HHN, and probably will, in fact, be starting to pack up to leave the next morning.) Would a long HDMI cable be all that I'd need to pull this off?

I was actually thinking of bringing a roku last week so we could stream to the hotel TV but just ended up with laptop and HDMI cable. We were at RPR for 2 nights but I didn't try it there. However, at SF I was able to plug in the laptop to HDMI on the back of the TV and switch the input from the remote. I don't think there was an input button it was buried in one of the settings menus. It would work for a few minutes but it kept switching back to the default resort channel and I got tired of messing with it/lost interest. Not sure if there is a way to keep it on the HDMI input.

Used my Roku at RPR last year - easy access to HDMI port for setup. Watched Simpsons every morning. Stream away!

I do have an extra Roku, as I decided to upgrade one of my sticks to an Ultra in order to use AirPlay. (Plus, it was sometimes overheating when it was behind the TV.) So that's another option I can easily set in my bag.

As others have said the TVs are not restricted to plug in another device via an HDMI cable. I can confirm that the free wifi is sufficient to stream videos.
