Royal Pacific Luau

Has anyone been to the Luau at the Royal Pacific Resort? Is it worth the $52? Is the food any good? Is it buffet or family style? How does the show compare to the Polynesian Cultural Center (great) and Disney (bad)?

We are taking friends to Universal in September. I had planned to go to Tchoup Chop, as I really love the food. The cost would probably be about the same. I know the food won't be as good, but it it a total experience worth giving up Tchoup Chop for? Should I take them to both?

there are some homies i know that have done the luau.

you should get some comments about it as soon as they see this thread.

i thought it was nice but i prefer the one in hawaii i have been to.
Germaines was fantastic. i'm sure i mispelled it but anyway you look at it, it is not touristy and very authentic.
came back to add that Germaines was 100 times better than the one in the cultural center.
this luau was not touristy at all. it started at 6 and ended at 10 pm

I did not enjoy the Disney one, more a singing story. RPR, wether its more authentic ,i could not say, as i have never been to a proper Luau.
We all enjoyed the show, some audience participation, but very enjoyable. The food was excellent and plenty of choice, it is buffett style, and deserts where excellent,

The Luau to me was pretty Kool..Done SW and Disney.But RPR seems more authentic..We enjoyed it alot..

How is the seating done? First Come First Served? Do you eat before it starts or is the show going on while your eating?

Seating is done on a who is in line first kinda thing-we sat up front by the stage..
When everone is in the buffet starts and it last and hour.The food is very good..
By the time your eating desert the show starts..
All during the show drinks are free!!!!!!!

Well of course you sat up front because you got there "too early"

How early was too early? I am thinking about doing the Luau and would like to sit up front.

To tell YA the truth there realy is no bad seat in the house.

After eating I was taking advantage of the free beer while the show was going on,and it was at the back of the pavillion..
Got to see more back there then right next too the stage..Espiacally the fire dancers!!

The show isnt just on the stage it goes up and down the ailes,its really immersive show!!

If you realy want to sit up front I would ask when you sign in..

About the time to arrive,we showed up at 5PM and they start seating at 6..
So show up early and ask about front row!!!!

We just got back from Universal Studios Orlando. We stayed at the Royal Pacific and went to the Luau. As Florida Residents and passholders to all the Orlando Theme parks, we have been to Disney's Luau, SeaWorlds Luau, and now the Royal Pacifics Luau. I would have to say that Royal Pacifics is the best and most athentic.
We went to the check in podium at 5pm well actually we got there at 4:45 they opened the seating assignment check in at 5pm. We were front row table 2 which is by far the best table because it is front and center.
Once you are checked in and receive your table assignment you are told you can leave and come back around 5:45pm. They start escorting you to your table at 6pm.
Now, even though you have your table assignment once you are brought to your table its first come first served at where you would like to sit at the table.
The food is unlike Seaworld and Disney its buffet style which I prefer over family style bowls brought to the table.

i wanted to vote yes to going also. the food was fantastic and the show was very entertaining..........BUT i wouldn't give up Tchoup Chop so i think you are going to have to do both. we had the best meal ever at Tchoup Chop. both great experiences, both highlights of our trip.

I agree that you should do them both. The luau was fun and is very good food for a dinner show, but the dining experience is nowhere near that of Tchoup Chop.
