The Golden Ticket Awards are a popularity contest, in my opinion, and though I'm aware of their existence -- they're just meaningless to me.

How do you define an amusement or theme park expert in the first place? Is it someone who works there? Visits a lot? Designs them? Operates them?

In some capacity or another, I've done all of that, but nobody asked me for my input on the awards. I understand that people love IOA and think it's the bee's knees. I think its theming is subpar at best for myriad reasons. Being among the minority doesn't make me wrong -- just among the minority.

I think it's great that the parks get positive attention and I hope that it drives them to raise their standards and then raise the bar.

(Edited to be a bit less confrontational. :) )
