I'm taking a deep breath here and going to write a quick report on our vow re-newal (ok Mandy? ;) )

When DH and I got married (second time for both of us) we always said that we'd re-new our vows after 5 years  .

Anyway, to cut a long story short, ill health, surgery and cash flow hiccups always stood in the way so we never made it :sad2:

Knowing that you can get married / re-new your vows etc in Vegas I decided to look into what Florida might offer :yay:
After lurking around on the Weddings and Honeymoon board I discovered two chapels (we later found a third whilst we were over there) the 'Royal Chapel', on ID, and the 'Love Wedding Chapel', in Kissimmee.
A WDW re-newal proved to be far beyond our budget.

I e-mailed with a date, time and our details, also requesting a stretch limo for the transfer (DD's dream  ), and was e-mailed almost straight back with confirmation :sunny:

We arrived in Orlando on the Thursday prior to the re-newal on the Monday afternoon and spent the first two days catching up with friends over there and visiting Universal and Seaworld.

On the Sunday morning I decided that I really should try on the dress I'd taken for the ceremony (not bought new, as I detest shopping, but worn only once for MIL's wedding last year)

Hmm, must be all those glasses of wine but it 'didn't feel right' :scared1:

Luckily, at Phil's insistance, I'd taken along a smart trouser suit too but none of the tops I'd taken 'felt right' either! :guilty:

We went out for the day, with friends, and, at midnight on Sunday, I could be found trekking around Walmart desperately looking for a top.........which I eventually found (after a few minor tantrums of course ;) ) :rolleyes1

The limo was picking us up at 1pm so, in the morning, Eve and I chilled by the pool and then started getting ready.
We had friends holidaying in Clearwater who planned to drive over to the villa but they got caught up in road works so we arranged to meet them at the chapel instead :)

The journey took around 45 mins.
We were met by Jay and Barb, the minister and wedding planner, and proceeded through the ceremony with lots of photos and a DVD which, thankfully, we haven't yet seen... :rotfl:
I'd been concerned that the 7 of us would all be 'rattling' around in some huge room but it was all perfect and would have 'worked' had there been only the three of us too.

Heres a link to the photos, if anyone's brave enough to look ;)

You need to click on the link to 'Phil and Alison from Sheffield' on the home page :)

Eve sat with her fingers in her ears for part of the vows as it was all too 'soppy' for her liking and was most disgusted at the photos of Mum and Dad kissing ;)

After even more photos we had a ride back to the villa, got changed, called for a coffee at 'The Loop' (a new shopping centre off John Young Parkway) before driving our friends back to their car which was parked at the chapel.

We'd decided on 'The Hard Rock Cafe' for dinner in the evening.
Not exactly romantic (as was pointed out to me by someone ;) ) but we're not exactly a 'romantic' family and it's one of our favourite places :rockband:

Following a link I'd found on the boards,:disrocks:, I pre-arranged seating for 7pm.

We met up with everyone again and continued to have fun.
If ever you go to the Hard Rock Cafe you should ask for the back stage tour :thumbsup2
We knew nothing about it, until the waitress suggested, it but it's free and you get to see all the memorabilia behind the scenes and where they hold the concerts :sunny:

So, all in all, we had a great day - disregarding the minor 'what to wear' crisis :lmao:

Course, once DH started criticising my driving I started wondering whether it was as easy to get a divorce in Florida as it is in Reno.............but that's another story ;) :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Thank you for sharing your day with us, sounds as though everything went off fantastically. Your photos are lovely, you and Phil both look so happy and Eve looks adorable. What a fabulous thing to do, many congratulations to you both on your renewal. :goodvibes :goodvibes

sounds wonderful alison and your pictures are great,

you did some shopping over there then? lol what did you think of the candle shop and where did you get crocs from?

are you going to do a full trip report too, we need some more

More?
Crikey, I had a 'sweat on' writing this ;)

The candle shop, in Florida Mall was great but I, somehow, expected the candles to be cheaper than we can buy them here :confused3
They were, roughly, the same price and there were fewer different scents than I'd expected.
I bought loads of wax tarts though and then found 'Patriot Candles', in Walgreens, at $5.99 each or two for $10 (the same size as the Yankee middle size jars :thumbsup2 ) so bought a couple of those too.

My Crocs I bought from Dillards - I got green and fushia ones whilst Eve has peach and pink :sunny: $29.99 for mine.

We found a shopping mall close to Daytona (Volushia shopping mall) when we went to the beach. They had a store (Hallmark I think) that had Crocs in loads of different colours.

We even did a couple of outlets (when I say I shopped I mean about 2 hrs max..... :rolleyes1 ) Eve got camouflage 'All Star' baseball boots that she's very proud of and Phil bought, yet another, Batman Fossil watch

The Mall at Festival Bay wasn't really open but I wanted to go to 'Sheplers' to get some cowboy boots for my birthday :thumbsup2

Alison ~ Thanx so much for sharing your special day with us. You photos are wonderful and you both look so happy.

Thank you so much for letting us share in your 'Special Day', it sounds like you had a great time - and why not go shopping at Wal-Mart at midnight ?? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks for taking the time to write your report up, and as I said earlier I love your photos

Mandy :)

Alison and Phil, wow what a special day for you both! Your photo's are fantastic!
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH!

when we go to florida on the 3rd august this year it will be on our 21 year anniversary :faint: so now after reading about your special day, i may look into doing it myself as a surprise for Ian!

:yay: 'Go for it' Netty :thumbsup2

It was a fun day and I only made the booking about 4 weeks before as we were uncertain about our travel arrangements :sunny:

Congratulations! It looks like a lovely place! You both look like you had an amazing day!

Alison it looks and sounds like you had a great day :cheer2: Your photos are lovely :)

Thanks for sharing your photos, you all look lovely and it must have been a wonderful day. :)

Glad you all had a great day and congratulations

Thanks for sharing this as I think it's a great idea. I had been thinking about what I could surprise my DW with on our next trip and I think you've just made my mind up for me! We'll be in Orlando for our 16th anniversary in August '07 and my daughter has always wanted to be a bridesmaid. So, I reckon we might follow in your footsteps and do this as well!

Time to start some devious planning!

She won't ... but our sons will probably sitting there looking as bored as possible and letting everyone else know that they're bored. That's where " ... stop moaning and we'll take you to a Wet 'n' Wild / McDonalds / Dunkin Donuts" comes into play!

I'll have to start planning this with my daughter as she'll be 12 at the time of the trip and would love to be a bridesmaid. I'm getting all  :Pinkbounc just thinking about it!

Alison

It all sounds fantastic and, judging by the photos, you obviously had a wonderful time - the top looks great, by the way :thumbsup2

The photos are gorgeous and you look so happy.

The backstage tour at Hard Rock sounds interesting - we'll have to bear that in mind.
