Royal Caribbean announces loyalty points will be interchangeable among their brands.

To clarify, they have had matching status for a year or so now.

What is going to happen is you can choose where you want your points. Like if I sail on Royal Caribbean, I can elect to have the points applied to Celebrity where I have higher status without matching. If someone has higher status on Royal without matching and they sail on Celebrity, they can elect to have the points apply to Royal Caribbean.

Or Silversea if you have status there.

I also read it as if you have points on multiple loyalty programs you can convert them from one to the other. Essentially combining them but I am watching something and he says that understanding is wrong.

Yeah - it's just for cruises after this starts that you can choose. You can't back-date points from one line to another.

Would have been nice to just be able to convert existing points. I am about to go on a 17 night Royal that is my first. I have 8 Celebrity ones under my belt and the 17 nighter would have put me on the cusp of promotion in the Captain's Club.

Understood. I can see it being a nightmare to back-date points for their IT. They can't even handle the power up points well.
