DH and I are booked into the Roy O. Disney Suite for 10/2008. This is our 2nd Disney Cruise with this being our first in the Royal Suite. I was wondering if anyone can give me any insight/tips of what to expect-especially with the Concierge Services. We have never stayed Concierge level before so this is all new-we don't really know what they can do for us.
Also, if anyone has stayed in 8530 and can give any addt'l tips, DH & I would really be happy!
Any info would be appreciated! Thanks! :)

Congratulations! If it's anything like the Roy Disney Suite at the Grand Floridian you'll have a fabulous time!

We stayed in the Roy Disney suite this July on Magic. The suite is very big and roomy. When you walk in to your left there is a half bath and next to that is a butler's pantry. We found that was a good place to put all the empty luggage to keep it out of the way. The living room has a wet bar to the left, a sofa, coffee table, and 2 chairs. Next to the living room is the dining room, which seats 8 people. Behind that is a bedroom and full bathroom. There is a walk-in closet in this bedroom. There are 2 twin beds-that can be pushed together to make a king, and a pull down berth for additionally sleeping. The master badroom and library are to the left of the living room.
The library has a sofa bed that sleeps 2. The master bedroom has a king bed, vanity, and separate closets-his and hers. The bathroom has double sinks, shower , and whirlpool tub. The balcony is also quite large.
The concierge service includes making reservations at Palo's, the spa, and excursions. We did not make any of these before boarding the ship and we were able to book our first choice for everything. They will check on you each day and deliver little goodies each night. Also don't forget to order extra sodas and water from room service because these are included free with this suite.
We also found that we spent much more time in our room because it did not feel clautrophobic. We had myself, husband, son, daughter, and her fiance in the suite. It was big enough to give us all privacy and much family time too.
Congratulations on getting this room. We have went on 9 disney cruises and this was the first time we got the Roy suite. We were on the waiting list and they called us 3 months before the cruise. We have stayed in 1 bedroom suites many times but they do not compare to this suite.

You will love the suite!!

The concierge team has a meeting when you board to help with signing up for kid's clubs, spa,Palo and excursions.

The refridgerator will be stocked with soda and water, that they will refill for free upon request. There are board games in the cabin and they will leave you a list of DVDs they can bring for you. You can order lunch and dinner from the dinind room menu and Palo.

There is also a concierge reception later in the cruise with drinks and snacks provided. Each day they will visit to be sure everything is okay and bring a small snack. They also leave a list of the next day's character greetings and a report on the weather.

We have had great concierg teams, and not so great, but the suite itself is the best part. We also found the suite made it great to just hang out there with our family and relax.

Enjoy.

We have stayed in it twice and will be in it in April 08. We stored our luggage in the huge corner cabinets. There were also board games and such in the cabinets. You can request dvd's to view in the room and your verandah should have 2 lounge chairs to lay on. There are also books that you can read. Novels and history stuff. Not sure if it is something DCL stocked or just what people leave. You also have a huge Jacquzzi tub---so bring along some bubble bath. There is actually a tv in the bathroom that can be viewed from the tub. You also have a nice wet-bar. We also were able to request sodas for free. They just kept them stocked in the wet-bar. Not sure if that is still a service today. You will also have a special Concierge meeting with little treats and free drinks which aren't skimped on with the liquor by the way. LOL! It is nice to spend some time chatting with the concierge team. There was at one time a CD player which you could either listen to your cd's or the ones you checked out from concierge. I think it was removed for our last cruise for repairs I believe. Oh yeah, we brought along a couple of those "plug n play" games for the big TV for the kids to play while getting ready for dinner or in the morning. Your bathroom is huge with double sinks. There is plenty of space for all your toiletries---so there isn't a need for any added hanger storage. Your room has a door bell that can become targets for little ones.

The last bit of advice----packing up can take a few more minutes than normal. You can arrange for extra time with the concierge if you need it. With all the cabinets, and all the storage, your stuff can get stuck everywhere. Check every cabinet. We usually sound like a pair of cops clearing a room. We'll tackle room by room and shout out "Under bed clear" ... "Closet Clear" ... "Bathroom Clear".

Enjoy!!

Wow!! Thanks for all of your generous relpies! I have seen some pics of the suite and showed DH. He had tears in his eyes! It was pure 'Disney Magic' that when we called last evening, the gal had The Roy Suite on the date we wanted.
Thanks again for the info, esp about the Concierge Services. I had no idea they do so much!

We got back from our 7 night last Saturday and fellow Disers (Indea88)had a concierge level suite - here is a portion of one of her recap posts:

We made it home safe, our plane was delayed Sat. night and we didn't walk through our door until 2:30am!
DS3 started with a nasty cold on the way home, we had a special Magic moment the night before we left the ship...They arranged a surprise character meet ( 25 characters) with my little one in Studio Sea! They brought him the invitation with the little metal mickey heads and told us not to forget our cameras...I didn't know it was a private meet and yes I was late, yelling at DS13 for not having the digital camera etc.. Well DH was early with the video camera.DS3 was sleeping in his arms when Peter Pan and Wendy woke him up to see Mickie, Minnie, Cinderella etc. When I walked in they were dancing and singing with him. Better I was late I boo hood'd through the whole event. This, I will never forget....
It was definately worth the splurge, that night with the characters sealed the deal...
I'm still laughing thinking about our times together!! I hope we can keep in touch!!!!!

Sorry to resurrect a really old thread but do they truly serve Palo food in the ROD suite? Do we still pay the cover charge but they bring the food up to our stuite? Can it be for brunch and/or dinner?

Thank you! Katherine

We stayed in the Roy suite and yes, we could order Palo food for dinner. We were charged the up fee but the service was from 'normal' room service - not from Palo despite ordering off the Palo menu. Also They brought 2 courses at a time and rolled them into the suite on carts. As they didn't know where each person was sitting, they did not know where to put the various foods. It was very nice but not nearly the ambience of BEING at Palo. The only advantage I saw was that the kids (under 18's) could eat with us too. Nice, but certainly not the deciding factor to stay there. The suite itself is awesome! Much nicer and larger than the same category suite on the DREAM (except for the verandah - DREAM deck is second to none!)

So you still pay for eating off of the Palo menu? Not much of a perk IMO when you have paid quite an upcharge to book the room!

We stayed in the Walt suite on the Wonder in April, 2010 and did not have to pay the extra charge when we ordered from Palo in the suite. It was brought by one of the regular room service servers and we tipped him well. Our DS (15 at the time) loved the pizza and filet mignon, but ate so much that he had indigestion later :rolleyes1

Thank you for your responses and the link to the video. The suite looks lovely! We love eating in once or twice a cruise to have peace and quiet so being able to order from Palo would be wonderful. On our last cruise on the Wonder, the food was really lacking in the MDR (and the buffet was always closed after 3pm!) so I am looking to see if there are some other alternatives (and not having to pay cover would be really nice). Yes the suite is very pricy so it would be a nice perk.

We are staying in the Walt suite on the Wonder, and I just learned a new benefit! Category 1/R suites get free unlimited Internet (they take it off your bill at the end of the week) and the other categories get a free 100 minute package (I think, I didn't listen that carefully). COncierge said it has only been happening for a month or so, we will see if it continues. Don't know if it is all ships or all cruises.

It could be because we are in Alaska and the Internet access is so slow.

We stayed in the Roy Suite as well and were not charged any fee for Palo room service which my husband and son had 3 times on the latest cruise. We gave the room service a good tip though each time.
