Round trip or one way?

Air tran just posted a web special for PHL to MCO for their return trip only (in December) of $79.00. The flight down to MCO is still $99. I've always booked round trip. Would it be worth it to just book the return flight and hope the cost of the flight to MCO goes down? What's the difference between booking round trip and single flights? ( I hope this isn't too dumb a question!)

I used to book roundtrip. But now, at least for the past several years, I'm booking each leg on it's own. In fact, I've gotten into the habit of going with the lowest fare, even if it means I fly on two different airlines. I already have my return flight in Dec booked. Now I just have to get there!!
