Here are the results from last week: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2710486

This week, two 90s classics, and overall, two of the greatest and most popular Disney films ever made sqaure off as the marvelous Aladdin takes on the awe-inspiring Lion King. If memory serves me correct, this matchup here is one of the most hotly debated matchups in Disney film history. I hope you all chime in and we here at the Disneyland Boards can settle it once and for all. ;)

I chose the Lion King. The music is wonderful, the non-fairy tale story of family strife & growing up is timeless... We should all have a time in our lives where Hakuna Matata is our anthem...

If your looking for a hunk of fat and juicy meat...eat my buddy Pumba here, because he is a treat.......come without a dime..oh that crazy swine...all you gotta do is get in line! :dance3:
Oh yeah...I voted for The Lion king

Plus it includes the very first flatulant Disney Character too so you can even get the men to watch it LOL

I'm a guy, and I honestly loved both films. They were both great. It's super hard for me to pick a winner here, but I think I'll go with..... ah, I can't do it. I'm going to have to give this some serious thought before I vote. I'll get back to you. In the mean time... :wizard:

I'm gonna be a mighty King, so enemies beware! I've never seen a King or beast with quite so little hair. I'm gonna be the mane event, like no King was before. I'm brushing up, I'm looking down, I'm working on my ROAR! ....Oh I just can't wait to be King!

I can show you the World! Shining, shimering, splended. Tell me, Princess, now when did you last let your heart decide? I can open your eyes. Take you wonder by wonder. Over, sideways, and under on a magic carpet ride. A whole New World!!!!

Considering the Lion King was plagiarized from a Japanese anime it is no contest that Aladdin is the winner. If Disney ever fesses up and gives credit where it is deserved I'll admit the animation quality of Lion King is about as good as it gets. Leaps and bounds above Aladdin at least.
Again, when you take the main character from another running animation series; change his color a little and change one letter in his name; blatantly steal the visual settings and styles; it probably isn't hard to make a good looking movie.
However, Aladdin is much funnier and it doesn't have to resort to fart jokes to get a laugh so I can forgive it for the diminished visual quality.
It's hard to compete against Hamlet plot wise but I think Lion King needed to be more serious to really pull it off (not that it didn't have its moments). But to get children more interested they made it a little too silly for my taste anyway. Kinda like a Bambi II with a farting Thumper I guess and a dead dad instead of mother. Nothing really original...

I have to go with Aladdin, I like the music slightly better, and Mufasa doesn't die in Aladdin. :thumbsup2

No contest - its definitely The Lion King. My favourite Disney film of them all. I love the music especially The Circle of Life. Love love love it
I saw a preview of it in WDW before it was released and couldnt wait to see the full thing.

Well, in our house, the favorite is Aladdin. Don't get me wrong, Lion King is pretty spectacular, and this music is really great as well, but Aladdin just seems to be more preferred. Plus, Aladdin isn't nearly as sad as Lion King. :goodvibes

Both films are no doubt amazing, and I understand why The Lion King gets all the love it does, but I don't understand why Aladdin seems to always play second fiddle to it. :confused3 Both of them have great songs and a wonderful story. I think Lion King hits a little closer to home, but Aladdin is a little more exciting.

Tough choice, but, I think I'll go with... ugh, this is the most painful choice yet. I think of all the matches so far, this is the most difficult choice for me. :sad1:

EDIT:

YOUR WINNER IS THE LION KING! (16 to 10)

Feel free to keep discussing and/or voting.

I too love them both. But I think ultimately I have to go with Aladdin. I just love the story of a poor boy who has nothing but ends up gaining everything. Btw, I really think Jasmine the most beautiful princess of them all. She is just SO hot! :lovestruc

Lion King on the other hand, besides being absolutely great, is just so sad. The way he loses his father, to having to ultimately live up to his father's image. If it wasn't for Scar, things would have been SO different and so much happier. :sad2: Excellent movie though.
