We are looking at an Alaska cruise for 2023 - and I’m curious roughly what we should plan on budgeting for excursions - it would be myself and DH - both in our early 30s. My husband has done a few Alaskan cruises with NCL - but this would be my first Alaska cruise, and his first with Disney. Of course, I know this depends on the person and what sort of excursions we’d like to do. I know the helicopter ones are pretty popular but I’m thinking of leaving that out and doing a few smaller ones. I was thinking about $1,000 per person for excursions does that sound about right or is that a little too high?

That should be plenty. Take a look at a site like alaskashoretours. You can see many excursion options for each port and pricing.

It all will come down to what excursions you want to do. We spent roughly $750 on 3 excursions for 2 people (both adults). But our excursions were the Salmon Bake and Glacier, Gold Nugget and then a scenic boat tour. A lot of the excursions start in the low to mid $200 range, but there are also a lot that go up to $500+ per person. So it will all come down to what you want to do and your budget. You can also check out: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/...uneau-alaska,ketchikan-alaska,skagway-alaska/ Which will give you a pretty good idea of what Disney is currently offering for DCL excursions and the costs.

We're going a bit overboard...so its actually about $1300xperson for us - one excursion in Juneau (through Disney), one in Icy Strait (through Disney) and one on our own in Ketchikan. But we skipped anything that was more than $300/person!

Honestly it all boils down to what you choose. We are only spending about $400 per person this summer—one big combo one that is a little under $300 in Skagway, then the basic transfer to Mendenhall to explore it on our own in Juneau for $50, and in Ketchikan we’re doing the lumberjack show and exploring Creek Street and totems around town on our own, also around $50.

But on our last Alaska cruise we spent $200-$300 at every port (totaling around $750 per person) doing horseback riding, zip lines, and whale watching.

And we have friends cruising with us this summer that are doing a glacier sled dog excursion that pushes their excursion total over $1,000.

Alaska prices really run a wide range on pricing. There’a no way to set a budget without looking at what experiences you want to do and pricing it out.

I think everyone has summed it up well. If you plan to do sight seeing tours and small excursions $1000 is fine. If you plan to go out to glaciers or take helicopter/sea plane adventures in every port, add a bit more to that total. Best way I've found to budget it to go look at the Port Adventures currently offered by DCL and see what you would pick to do in each port, and use the DCL price listed. You may not end up booking through DCL, or you might change your mind on what you want to do. But it gives you an idea.

Also going overboard. Private whale watch, sea plane and also helicopter landing on glacier. Four people. Plus Dawes glacier with DCL. $6137 total

Ours are just over $1,000 per person and we are doing the helicopter, glacier, dogsledding. That is our big excursion. The other 2 are around $200pp and we aren’t doing Dawes Glacier.

We spent about a total of $300 per person. We did a historical guided walking tour for adults - it was terrific, a train tour (I don’t recall the name of it but it was not very good), a gondola to be able to hike at the top so this was really for the transportation but we did enjoy learning about the native people through the presentation they had at the top of the gondola, and a museum during our Canada stop. We are in our mid forties and didn’t do anything too exerting as we decided we want it to be a slow, leisurely trip.

We did Alaska on DCL with our two kids in 2016. When I saw the subject line on your post, my immediate thought was $1000 pp, so I think you are spot on.

Ours is about $1000 per person, we are doing excursions every day including Dawes Glacier. But we aren't doing the high ticket items like helicopter or float planes.

Came here to find the person who said annual salary x # passengers in party.

AK excursions seem to me to be a lot higher than other destinations. We've taken one each trip, but enjoy just walking around the towns. I manage to keep ours under $200pp for the whole trip. I agree with others to look at some of the sites and get an idea of what's offered so you can see prices.
