What time are people getting to the parks to get the BG for ROTR? Or any other ride in that area? I keep seeing posts of people arriving at 4:30am. I mean... seriously?
We are going the first week of March, my friend is dead set on going on all the Star Wars (new) rides. Is this feasible? I kind of laughed at her (as I'm the Disney nut and realize what excitement and craziness Star Wars has opened up) and was like yeah good luck with that. She had that cold look in her eyes and responded: we are going. *GULP.*
LOL

I am not into Star Wars at all, but I'm trying to research any sort of strategy for getting them/us on these new rides. We thought to rope drop and get on the queue. What are the odds of us making this happen?

Thanks guys...

During the first days ROTR opened, people were arriving at 4:30 am (some even earlier I think). With the current Boarding Group (BG) procedures, you just need to be inside the park prior to the offical opening time in order to join a BG from the app on your phone. So, you need to arrive early but it's no longer necessary to be there by 4:30 am. We're also going in March and I'm planning to arrive an hour prior to RD. But then, we've always arrived about an hour prior to RD for ANY park even before the ROTR hysteria.

Just to give you an idea @Goldilocks07. I don't know yet if in March they will keep it to the 9 a.m. opening time or bump it up. Lately they've had it at 7 a.m. when it was originally to be at 8 a.m. this past month.
I went Jan. 6, I arrived to the park about 5:30, maybe 5:45. This allowed me to get fairly close to the rope for the rope drop. The app can be a mixed bag for boarding groups so that part I can't guarantee. But when I arrived fairly early, it allowed me to rope drop Millennium Falcon and I was honestly off it within 30 minutes of the park opening.

So while getting up early is a pain, I did see benefit to it by having soooo much more time to do everything else. Plus I was lucky enough to get one of the first boarding groups of the day, So literally rode both big Star Wars rides by 9 and then just able to enjoy the rest of the parks (Star Tours was too long to ride but none the less I got done what I wanted to).

I'm also going early March on the 6th so I am curious about what time the park will open. Right now they're saying 9 a.m. but wondering if they'll push it up to 8.

My family and I were just there a couple weeks ago as well. I would agree with Revan, get there at least an hour before park opening. This will give you time to get through the security lines, get into the park and get ready for the park opening so you can hopefully get a decent boarding group number via the app. Hit Smugglers Run or Slinky Dog Dash right away and you’ll be off to a great start. There’s so much to do and see at DHS now that the early start will truly make you feel like you are maximizing your day there. And if you are one of the lucky few to ride Rise of the Resistance, you will say it was TOTALLY worth it. Great ride. Outstanding park. Good luck!

I would recommend reading the BG thread, posts 1 and 2 has the FAQ and then, subsequently posting additional questions there if you have any.
There's no need to be there any earlier than 45 min before official park opening, just to get yourself through bag check and tapstiles.
New SW are only 2 o of course you can do both in one day, even without a fp for MFSR you can go standby, rope drop that one or wait until the end of the night.

This is all VERY helpful thank you. Yes, I went to the BG threads, it was all just overwhelming. I felt so ...NEW. LOL.

Just to be clear, there are only 3 rides over in Star Wars, right?
1. Star Tours (the OG)
2. Millennium Falcon/Smugglers Run (this one I can likely get on straight from rope drop?)
3. Rise of the Resistance (this one we need, if still available in March, a Boarding Group after rope drop)

Thank you!!

only 2 rides. Star Tours is at DHS but it’s not part of the actual Star Wars land. It’s in another part of the park.

Got it, thank you to you both.

I've been to HS a bunch of times, but with all the changes and Toy Story Land creating havoc, I've glazed over in attempting to go. But we are attempting it in March!!

There are 3 attractions inspired by Star Wars. Star tours is the original one, outside of SWGE
SWGE=Star Wars Galaxy's Edge is the name of the new land, in there you have MFSR that you can access through fp or standby line during your trip, and ROTR which can only be accessed by bg.
Again post 1 and 2 of the bg thread will have all ther info for RotR

With the mad rush to get through the lines and into the park in the morning, do they still have an AP only line? Is it crazy as well?

No they don't have an ap queue in the morning. There's no mad rush to get through because they open the park early enough to allow everyone inside that wants to be inside by 8

LOL - I was "new" to that thread just a few days ago. I think it was on page 290-something and now it's 400+! But, my advice, is to read the first few posts and then jump to the end and start reading from the prior 1-2 days (which will still be like 3-4 pages!). But, you'll quickly get up to speed as to what people are reporting on and the latest and greatest advice. No need to read the whole thing. With the opening times changing, app updates, etc., you will just need to know what the latest advice is. Depending on when you go in March, there will be yet another wrinkle on how the crowds move with the opening of MMRR (Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway) that we don't know the effects of. So just follow along. I've already learned so much!

I just got back from a 10 day trip.
The first day I entered DHS at 6:52.
The second day at 650.
The other four days I went I was in 15-30 mins before they opened.
I had no bag which obviously makes a difference in how long you have to wait at security.
My first two mornings, the bus stop at my hotel had very few people waiting, the third day, over 200 people were in line when I got to the bus stop at 0610.
First day - group 18. Received my boarding notice at 745.
Second day - group 74. Technical issues meant the ride was down a lot during the day and at 4pm I received a message that they would not be boarding past group 70 (and only up to 72 had been guaranteed a spot)
The other days I boarded at 0945, 1245, 1200 & 1:00
Total time from ride entry to exit each day ranged between 45-60 mins.
