RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

So for people that watched a POV ride through video and then rode ... did watching the video spoil it for you - or was reality just so much more amazing that even watching the video didn't lessen the experience. Wondering if you weren't going until February would you avoid the video or does watching the video just get you more excited and not detract from the experience?

Asking for a friend ....
... that friend is me
I am torn in answering this. I did watch a POV video and I'm kind of sad I did that. I think if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have watched it. I do still think these feelings will dissipate once I get to ride for the first time. I'm not sure what to do now, though. We're staying at CBR and at the time we thought we could ride the Skyliner over. Now it looks like if we want to depend on Disney transportation we'll have to hop on a bus and I'm not sure it'll get us there early enough. We are planning to go to DHS as soon as we drop our bags on Monday (at the earliest will be 10:30 a.m.), and in the a.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll have our granddaughter and son/dil so there will be 4 plus a carseat if we Uber over. We might just have to split our 2 mornings up. I'm curious what this weekend will bring crowd-wise

I don’t want to go through all 41 pages, but does anyone know how this works with DAS? Like do you have to have a BG and then get your return time? I’ve been at work all day today and already have plans to go down to Epcot this weekend and thought I’d swing by HS and get a ride if I could manage
I just came back from SWGE and asked. Just to add to the info that has already been provided, I was told that they did not take any DAS cards to day and will probably not take them tomorrow

Regarding the 6-7 hours comment - I bet that is especially true for those with kids. Would families with younger kids really be able to tolerate 6hrs of kids doing nothing! The boarding group structure is definitely family friendly.

The childless millennial crowd I’m sure would be fine using their smart devices to surf MyFace and SpaceBook and posting pouty selfies to pass the 6 hours...(I kid...I think...I hope...)
We’re going this weekend and hoping to ride Saturday and this seems ideal to me. My kids are 7 and 2 and the 2 year old can’t ride

do you have any idea if they were doing rider swap? We’ll be there this weekend and have a 2 year old who’s too small

I'm sorry, I didn't ask about that. Hopefully someone used it today and can answer

Sorry if I missed this - heck, may have asked already, but if I have an Oga’s reservation I don't need to get into a BG, right?

Yes. Chatted with a family at the food court at Coronado while waiting for our pizza. Their older son was thrilled he got to ride it twice.

Edited to add: both adults have to join a boarding group. No big deal, just fyi.

Yes I think my son will be thrilled also. If there wasn’t I’d let him and dh go as they’re the hardcore Star Wars fans and I’m just a Disney fan, but I really really want to ride this too.

For those who are there, how is land/MFSR access now that ROTR is open? I only had Olga’s to access the land, but may drop it if we can still get to into the land and on the Falcon without it. DH and I will go early for a BG but the others just want to see the land and ride the Falcon.

Not there but have been watching the app and following along on Twitter etc. The land was completely open today, they were just controlling which way was used for entering/exiting and falcon never really got over 75 min for the day.

Will be at Hollywood Studios on Wednesday with my family. Really hoping they're still doing the virtual queue then. With a 9 and 5 year old it'll be such a help. We also have an early dining reservation at Hollywood and Vine before the park officially opens that day so wondering if they will have the virtual queue in place, if we'll have an advantage over other folks. Really looking forward to seeing how things go over the next few days and appreciate everyone's reports on their experiences!

Ok. Plan now is to drive to DHS from SSR tomorrow and be there at 5:30am. Anyone else going tomorrow (Friday) early?

What a day! I'm exhausted, and need to process everything.

The virtual queue made this day. We wasted time messing with some ticket confusion, so ended up in group 25, even though we were some of the first people in the park. We got in line for RotR sometime around 9:30.

In the time before that, we rode RnRC twice, SDD, TSMM, AS2 and MFSR. We also did some shopping, got coffee, and strolled through Galaxy's Edge.

More to share about RotR, but need sleep!

I rode it today, was there at 4 am. And back to hotel after riding by 9 am. Kids were upset they didn’t wake up when I tried to get them up. We put them to bed at 7 just so they could do it. So we’re going to try again tomorrow with them. We have a 6yo 5 yo and. 8 mo. So was hoping for rider swap. However with the boarding groups I don’t see how it would be necessary. You have 2 hours to ride after your boarding group is called. So wife and 6 yo ds will ride first tomorrow and should be off in no time at all. And then me and 5 yo dd will ride there’s no way it will take 2+ hrs, unless ride goes down again, and in that scenario they will hand out fp to return. Btw in my opinion this ride is well worth getting up early and waiting for
