Is it true that Disney doesn't always follow the rotational dining on these longer cruises ... i.e. will repeat the same dining room twice before moving to the next one?

Even happens sometimes on 7 night cruises. only happens once a cruise if they do you will have 2 days in a row at the same restaurant.

Since 1999, we have had a couple of dinning rotations where we were in the same MDR 2 nights in a row, and i want to say that we had one where were were in a MDR 3 nights in a row - will have to go back through our scrapbooks to verify.

It's still "rotational dining" which simply means you'll dine at each of the dining rooms. It's just not a direct pattern in that rotation. We've had it on 4-night cruises (1223), so not necessarily limited to just the longer ones. I believe it happens when a special menu night (like pirate night) occurs within the timing of the first 3 nights of a cruise, to make sure everyone gets to experience the unique menus for each MDR.

Enjoy your cruise!

Even when you are in a MDR two nights in a row, the menus will be different. There is no repeat of menus no matter how long the cruise.

How did you learn this already?! I know we have a new member in our cruise group who reported knowing her rotation already... I wouldn't think this kind of thing was worked out so soon.

We called DCL a few weeks back. They do not assign people to rotations, but they do know what the different rotations will be priior to the cruise. They were a little late having the info for our cruise. It is usually available prior to booking windows opening.

Thanks ... that is quite helpful indeed when considering booking at Palo's ... as this will be our first time aboard the Wonder unable to guess which one of the three dining rooms will be our favorite ... hopefully we'll get an idea when the booking window opens which rotation we may be on

You won't know your rotation until you check in at the port. As noted actual assignments to the rotation don't happen until much closer to the cruise (around 3-4 days out).

You can request a rotation, and in most cases the request is honored, but it's not guaranteed, and you won't know until embarkation day whether the request was granted.

Slightly different topic. Are the days going through the canal considered sea days? Is Palo open for Brunch on those days? This thread got me to thinking about how many days might be available for booking Palo, which is a factor in determining whether or not to book in advance.

As for dinner, unless you have a very specific date in mind for some reason (e.g. Birthday), then I wouldn't think there is a need to book Palo in advance. There should be plenty of availability once you board.

We have late dining so we do Palo at 6 then go to late dining with the kids to have a family dinner. We just nibble and tell our servers the reason why.

We had Enchanted Garden back to back on our 4 day Dream cruise. So it can even happen on a very short cruise.

On the 4 night cruises, they double up on the dining room for Pirate night. Time was that the 4 night Dream cruise rotation was 1233, so that nights 3 (pirate night) and 4 (rotational menu) were in the same dining room. More recently the rotation has been 1223, nights 2 & 3 in the same dining room.

Hoping to book Palo at least twice on the EBPC aboard the Wonder ... Birthday and Anniversary :)

Hadn't thought about that before ... that's why I like the actual buffets on other cruise lines ... go through and nibble after dinner ... lol ...

you should be able to book a brunch and a dinner online. Once you board - and with almost 2 weeks of sea days, getting another brunch or dinner should be simple. The dates that you want - book on line, fill in later once on board.

If you can't get you preferred dinner and brunch dates on line, visit the Palo staff where ever they are stationed at on embarkation day. That should be about the first thing you do after boarding. You quite likely will be able to get your preferred dates.
