Rosh Hashanah crowds

I just found out that I will be visiting during Rosh Hashanah. I have reservations on Monday 9/26 for HS. I go to Disney every year during that week but Rosh Hashanah has never fallen when I've been there. I know crowds have been up this year, and waits have been long at HS. What effect, if any, can I expect for crowds on that Monday? Will it be awful?

Most Monday's are not bad as you don't have many of the locals coming in. That said, if you want any of the newer rides at HS, you will need to make a Genie+ reservation as they will sell out by 10 or so that morning. The newest rides will be gone by 8 AM.

I am Jewish and - in the UK at least - Rosh Hashanah is one of two festivals that are observed by a large % of people. So I would have thought most Jews who were off because of Rosh Hashanah will be in synagogue and/or with family. I'd be shocked if it made any difference to park attendance.

I was there on Rosh Hashanah last year (2021) and the crowds weren't awful because of Rosh Hashanah. There was no effect at all on crowds.

In the US, mostly in the Northeast, public schools will be off for one or both of the high holidays. Non-Jewish families often take that time for a vacation since many schools will combine it with a teacher in-service or other excuse for a fall break.

Interesting. Even with that context, I would still be surprised if that caused unbearable or majorly increased crowds. Seems a long way to travel for a few days so soon after the summer. The unofficial guide touring website puts crowds between 3-5 out of 10 across the park on those dates. DHS is 5,5,4. So seems fine. They rate park crowds on wait times for rides. DHS almost has to be deserted for short wait times given the relatively few numbers of attractions which often break down.

Yes schools close in the northeast. But mostly not in the rest of the country.

Ever heard of Jersey Week? Sometimes it feels as if the entire state has descended on WDW that week. It's not unheard of when you consider that you can take your kid out of school for 1 or 2 class days and combine it with days they are already scheduled to be off.

Yes, I plan on purchasing ILL for ROTR and do Genie+ for the rest. That will help. I just hate crowds, anywhere, not just Disney! But alas

I have been "lucky" with crowds and weather so far. It's bound to catch up to me some time. Thanks for your replies, everyone. I'll just have a plan and we'll do the best we can. We'll still have a good time.

Hopefully it will be ok. Disney seems to have a good handle on park attendances now given the need to pre-book the parks. I get the impression - from everything I have read on here - that there are no real slow times. If the crows are lower, the staffing is reduced and wait times remain fairly long. The cynics say to encourage the purchase of Genie + and $ILL - would Disney be so sneaky? 😝

A lot of private schools have added Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, even well outside the NE in the last few years. They have in my area, which is why I planned Yom Kippur.

HS always has bad waits because it is a handful of excellent rides and no filler. And they go down often. There is no downtime for HS.
