There is a conference there this summer that I have the opportunity to attend, but I've never heard of it. It seemed to have high rankings on Trip Advisor, but a lot of the reviews had a bunch of complaints in it. Does anybody have any experiences with this resort they'd like to share?

Since you'll only find discussion of Disney resorts here, I'm going to move this to the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board. :thumbsup2

Sorry! I posted this quickly and forgot to look for the Orlando hotels section.

I stayed there in October 2009 after booking it through Hotwire. It is a very nice hotel, rooms are huge and there are a lot of amenities. The complaints I assume you are reading deal with parking - how you have to pay to park, how far the parking lot is from the main entrance, and that it is sometimes difficult to find a spot at night or when a conference is going on. I will say that I was not charged for parking, but that might have been because I paid through Hotwire and they didn't think about charging it. I would probably stay there again. Also, they have a bunch of restaurants on property that I have seen on restaurant.com if that's something that would interest you.

I also got it through Hotwire about 2 years ago for like $55-$60 which is an excellent price for the quality of the hotel.I did get charged for parking, I think like $10.There wasn't a conference when I stayed there and the hotel was pretty empty and calm.It is a far walk from the parking lot but I don't mind,I think it gives you that Las Vegas feel of walking for 10 minutes to get to your room.I also stayed at the Rosen Centre right on I-Drive and I prefer Shingle Creek,Rosen Centre has a parking garage and just feels more cramped as opposed to the open parking lot at Shingle Creek, either way both hotels require a long walk as you walk through the halls of their convention areas.Shingle Creek is a nice hotel but is aimed more at conventions and business people with a golf course available and some upscale restaurants which at least when I was there weren't even open at 9pm at night so i had to ask myself if they're not open for dinner when are they open.
