My husband has a convention to attend in September at the Rosen Shingle Creek. We are planning to go with him and extending the stay for a whole week. I usually stay on site at Disney, somebody convince me that I just want to stay at Rosen Shingle Creek for the entire week. How are accomodations, shuttles to the parks, restaurants. etc. We probably won't rent a car, so tell me everything I need to know.

We stayed here for one night pre-cruise a few months ago without our kids. I had read mixed reviews but we got a really good rate on Hotwire so decided to try it and am glad we did. Was well worth it! First off, it is HUGE! I read some reviews complaining about the distance they had to walk from the parking lot to the hotel and the fact that the hotel charges a fee for for parking. The walk really isn't that bad and they never charged us the parking fee :) Everything was very clean and the staff was friendly. We were only there one night, but didn't notice a lot of kids around. There is a large pool area with 3 main pool areas - adult only pool, family pool (there's a small kiddie pool here too) and a lap pool. It overlooks a huge golf course and is all well landscaped. We didn't eat in the restaurant but did eat in the marketplace which is open 24 hours - there is a deli area here where you can get sandwiches, pizza, bagels, pastries, etc. I thought the prices were reasonable. There is also a Starbucks off the lobby area that had the usual pastries, etc.

The location is right off I4 but is really set back from the road and I would definitely recommend having a car while you are there. They do not offer complimentary shuttles, but there are plenty of drivers waiting in their vehicles by the front door available for hire. Sorry, not sure on the price...

Hope this helps a little - I have a bunch of pics, let me know if you would like me to post them...

My daughter attends UCF's Rosen College of Hospitality which is adjacent to Rosen Shingle Creek...the area is GORGEOUS! I would stay there in a second.

It's right off 528 on Universal Blvd and is easy to get to Disney and back BUT only if you have a car.

I would stay there for the portion of the trip that involves the convention and then move to Disney for the remainder.

Thanks for the help, I would love to see some pics if you feel like posting them. I think we will move over to Disney for the remainder of the trip. Rosen Shingle Creek is expensive, at lease at the Disney resort we can create package with tickets included. Plus it won't feel like a real vacation if I am not riding around on a Disney bus:)

Stayed a week during spring break and loved the hotel. I would return in a minute, as you can see by my signature. We only ate out by the pool as we stayed very busy all week otherwise. We did not use the shuttles.

Thanks for posting your pictures, HopperFan and samily. It is an impressive hotel. I attended a one day workshop in June 2008 at Rosen Shingle Creek. The facilities were lovely, but we didn't explore.

We stayed at Vistana and rented a car for what it would have cost at RSC. I think you will definitely need to rent a car for the time you are at RSC. If you rent from Alamo and others, you can return the car after you check-in at your Disney resort and they will take you back to your resort. That way you can add Magical Express for your return to the airport, have a car when you need it, and save some money.

Have fun!

Wow, this place looks beautiful!

Can anyone tell me if they have organized kids' activities?
