I am traveling with students to a huge conference at OCCC next month. We are assigned to the Rosen Centre, and I'm wondering if anyone has stayed there with teenagers lately. I've heard the rooms do not have refrigerators. I'm also curious what is onsite for inexpensive meals/snacks. I'm not happy we drew a hotel without a free breakfast, so I'm looking for alternatives for the kids.

Thanks~

We've stayed at the Rosen Centre several times for quick, cheap weekend getaways. It commonly comes up on Priceline and Hotwire for about $40-45/night.

Quite honestly, this is not my favorite I-Drive hotel. It definitely caters to business travelers and conventioners. The rooms are pretty basic, and while the hotel is large, it's decor and style is really nothing special. The pool area is fairly plain with nothing special about it.

As far as food options, you've got a handful of decent enough restaurants catering to business travelers in the hotel. All are fairly expensive. You can utilize the I-Ride trolley, however, and find numerous affordable breakfast places nearby if that is your main concern.

That said, it is in a good location on I-Drive, the rooms and property are generally pretty spotless, and the employees are attentive.

Would it be my choice with teens? No! But there are far worse out there. I really think of the Rosen Centre as a huge Courtyard by Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn. Clean and sufficient, but nothing special, and not really geared towards vacationers.

You don't want to know what they are charging the kids (or me!!!) for these rooms.

I was in Orlando with a different student group in April and we drew the Embassy Suites. The breakfast and afternoon snacks were fabulous---my kids don't have a lot of money for restaurant eating for a week.

Thanks for your insights. I walked through the hotel knowing I'd be back in June, but wanted to see if anyone had first-hand experience.

Like I said, the hotel is fine as far as a basic, clean business hotel. And for your convention, the location can't be beat.

The biggest problem for your group will be food. They do target conventioners on an expense account :sad2:

Are you stuck with this hotel or do you have some room to negotiate with whoever planned the trip? Like you said, there is the Embassy Suites and the Hyatt Place, which both seem like better options.

International high school student conference...no choices whatsoever. We'll just have to rent a fridge and hit the food store.

Even worse is the $30+ each way for taxi service to Disney!!!

You are within walking distance to some budget friendly restaurants, McDonalds, Pizza Hutt, Subway, Denny's and some buffets.
