Roseanne back

Having some issues wirh Becky’s character. Now she is playing an aging wild party girl who is sort of ditzy.
That was not the character originally at all. She was pretty studious and dressed conservatively which is why it was supposed to be such a shock when see dated and eloped with bad boy boy Mark.
Last night they kept referencing her dating teachers and being “popular”.
And does Andy exist or not?

Other than the ditzy part, I think it’s spot on. Sadly, I know plenty of smart kids who wound up like Becky.

I read in an article that they simply could not address everything since they only originally got nine episodes. Roseanne said in the interview that they will now be able to address it since the show as renewed.
I read that too. However, last night they went beyond not addressing it IMO. They kept going on about how Jackie was all alone. They could have easily added "ever since Andy grew up."

Jerry's on some kind of fishing boat "where apparently they don't have phones", I think the line was. I can't get too excited about Jerry, it's not like he had major plot lines back in the day. It does seem weird that they're saying Jackie "doesn't have a title" and is "all alone". a mom is a mom for life, and even if Andy is living in East Albania, one would think he'd visit, once in a blue moon. Although maybe they'll add a back story--Jackie had a substance abuse problem and lost custody, something like that. But even if that were true, you'd think by now, she has it pretty together and there would be at least some minimal reconciliation.

I finally got a chance to watch all four episodes, and it's definitely one of the better reboots I've seen. There was some awkward acting, but that's to be expected. The writing is still good, and the chemistry between most of the cast hasn't been lost over time. I'm looking forward to the next episode!

The only thing I hope they drop is the "well, as a life coach..." thing with Jackie. It got old very quickly.

I watched the last two episodes last night. Harris's head under the sink, while not ideal didn't bug me. There are families that still do this. It's how the parents/grandparents were raised. It might not be ideal or acceptable parenting, but it's better than some other alternatives. I would have preferred the sink sprayer though.

I think they could have tackled stealing a bit better. Yay for realizing that you have to actually parent and know what your kids are doing online.

Becky and Darlene scenes were good. Nice interaction between the two, with pointing out how Becky's been shopping at Forever 21 for two 21s. I also like how Rosanne and another Uber driver have a deal about picking up their own family members.

What's been bugging me. Becky was at least attending a community college, and I though Darlene had attended school too. Are there no jobs locally that they could get that would be better than Build a Bear (which she didn't get) or waitressing? I realize that they are trying to portray blue collar lifestyles, but Becky was pursuing something in school. Did the show ever say what Darlene's job was in Chicago? Is that non-existent in Lanford or via telecommute?

I would not hire Jackie as a life coach. That part made no sense. I hope they drop it.

Also, have they addressed what happened to the Lunchbox? Did it close in the recession? Is DJ working there with a missing Andy?

In interviews they talked about researching small towns in the area and how they’re poorer now than when the show previously aired. That Dan and Rosanne actually make even less now. A college education isn’t going to help if there are no jobs for college educated people and will actually work against you applying for jobs where you don’t need one.

I think perhaps the "change" in Becky could be due to Mark's death. She said they had wanted kids and I think that since she was young and they had all these plans, when he died she just changed everything. It will be interesting to see if they talk about him more.
