I booked Rose & Crown for a 7:00 ADR. The CM said we could stay from there and watch Illuminations. Anyone done this before? I haven't seen too many posts about the food - thumbs up or down? What was good?

Fish and Chips were to die for!!:worship:

We're dining here again but much earlier due to the kids, at 5:30 pm.

Years ago we dined at 7pm (it was January) around 8:45 pm they asked us if we'd like to head towards the patio to view the fireworks. I was surprised the waitress asked us. I honestly thought it would be some mad dash of people rushing to get out there. But since the patio was closed to dining due to the chilly winter weather, there was plenty of room for everyone inside the restaurant to view the fireworks outside. It was an amazing spot to view them! :wizard:

Oh and the Sticky Toffey Pudding was yummy too :)

Rose & Crown was the biggest surprise of our trip in December. I did not pick it...and I though I would hate it. I LOVED it! I had the steak and fish. Normally, I really don't care for fish, but this was really good! And the steak was wonderful!

I will definitely be back.

We go to Rose & Crown almost every trip. Love the food. Going to bypass this in May as we are staying at AKL & this is more of a relaxing trip. But we have two more trips to go so we will have a ADR there. But food is good. Been to the UK & have British friends that gotten us use to some of the different foods think mostly it is the name :lmao:

Went to R&C this past Jan for the first time. Nothing as refreshing as a beer sampler after running the 1/2 marathon! :drinking1

I did not like my lunch (Ploughman's Lunch) but the food at the rest of the table was great! Fish and Chips were awesome, Chicken and Leek Tart, fruit and cheese plate, and I saw the bangers and mash go to the table next to us (wish I had ordered that!!) We will definitely be going back.

We eat at Rose & Crown on every trip. I had the steak and fish this past December and I loved it. In fact the steak I had there beat the one I had at Le Cellier a few nights later.

We haven't eaten there for 4+ years, but my (now) 16 yo son loves the Shepard Pie. He still talks about it. We just haven't been able to get in on the days we were there... We did the early dinner/late lunch and then went back for the fireworks. It was great!

We ate at Rose & Crown and really liked it. I think our ADR was for 8:00. The waitress took us down to the patio after dinner and we went back to the table afterwards for our dessert. Awesome place to view Illuminations. I think they changed the menu a little since we were there but I remember the mushroom appetizer being really, really tasty and the kid's choices were good as well.

Rose & Crown is a "must do" for us each trip! We once watched Illuminations from there. It was great!

One more vote for the steak & fish. Our February ADR was for 7:30. Our waitress brought out coffee and sticky toffee pudding at 8:55. PERFECT!!!!!!!!! Have fun.

WE did this once before. It's not my favorite food, to be honest.

They also don't guarantee a outdoor view of the fireworks. There are a few tables along the water, some outdoor tables along an inner tier which offer a partial view, and indoor tables that don't really get a view of the fireworks at all. You can request a fireworks view at check-in, but so does everyone else. You may or may not get it. When we dined, the best tables were for parties of five or more, but that may have changed since then....nad then again there's a chance it could always rain.

We had one of the outdoor tables that was slightly off the water. We were under an overhang so we could only partially see the fireworks. Though we would have been dry (or mostly) had it been raining.

I couldn't get my first choice and the CM suggested this - I didn't think about the times until later. Do you think the 7:00 time is too early for the fireworks? Don't know if they would still have anything later but should I try for 7:30 maybe?

7:30 worked out great for us
we didn't feel like we had to hurry or linger over our meal
7pm may be a bit early especially if you have young ones
we had 4 teens. even they don't like to hang around just to see a show.

I called back and 7:10 is the latest they had. I'll keep trying or we are really going to have to strrrrreeeeeetttttcccchhhhh dinner out as long as we can!!!!

Oooh, you have little ones. I don't know if they could last that long.

I had a 7pm ADR and we were seated immediately. It was January and the restaurant was not crowded. My DS4 was one years old at the time and taking a nap. They let me bring him sleeping in the stroller to our table. They sat us in a quiet corner. My mom and I were able to really stretch out the meal and I have to say it was one of our best meals together in WDW.

DS woke up at 8:30, we had time to feed him, have some coffee and dessert and we're done with our whole meal by 9pm fireworks.

I'd keep trying for a later time with all your little ones. I'd try to get as close to 8pm as possible.

Then again, they might not seat you immediately, which in this case is GOOD!:thumbsup2
