Rose & Crown - the good & the bad, please tell...

We ate in the Rose & Crown about 7 years ago and loved it.
Then we ate there again 5 years ago and hated it.
The fish was greasy, the poultry was dry, we did not have a good time.

Now DS wants to try Rose & Crown again when we go this summer.
Dinner for our 1st night at WDW.,,, 6/23 at 5:45 pm

Grilled Salmon - with caramelized marble potatoes, baby carrots, and malt vinegar reduction $20.99

Pan-roasted Cornish Hen - with roasted root Vegetables, Swiss Chard, and chicken jus $18.99

Grilled Sirloin - with roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, red wine sauce and Stilton cheese $23.99

Pork Duo - grilled brisket with mushroom ragout and braised pork with mashed potatoes and red wine sauce $15.99

We ate there for the first time last August. It was ok nothing spectacular but we did sit outside on patio and had a front row seat for Illuminations. That was awesome!! Those seats made it worth while. We are trying it again in April requesting a patio table. Unfortunately I didn't have anything you listed but the salmon dish looks good.

I had the grilled sirloin in November and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't the best steak I've ever had, but I did keep wanting to eat after I was full, which I usually don't do. And the sticky toffee pudding was excellent as well.

We've been twice recently and enjoyed it both times. I mean it's not the best meal on the property but I've enjoyed it every time I've eaten here.

(sorry I didn't finish reading your first post. I've only gotten the fish & chips, which I always think are good....My DH did get the grilled sirloin which he said was ok.)

We've been eating at Rose & Crown for over 25 years (last time was Christmas Day) and have never had a bad meal yet. It's not quite as good as it once was, but few Disney restaurants are and Rose & Crown is still one of the few on our list of favorites.

There is definitely no smoking allowed in any restaurant in Florida and Disney only allows smoking is designated outdoor areas around the parks well away from the restaurants.

No, smoking in restaurants is illegal in FL

From knowing a few people there, I got to try some of the new items on the menu before they became available to guests. I can say this. Don't eat the pork, or the Cornish Hen. You will regret it. Dry, tasteless and frozen proteins that are not worth your hard earned money. Other than that, everything is great! You'll enjoy it.

Since you asked, ...R&C has the dubious honor of being the only restaurant on property we've tried once and will not return to ever again. We usually give a place the benefit of the doubt and try it a few times because we give it a thumbs up or down, but when my family of 3 (then) did it in combination w/ our Candelight Proc. package and we paid $145 for a meal we all walked away hungry from, we decided nope, that's enough. So we each at apps, entrees and desserts and noen of us were happy. TOTALLY odd too as we're not picky. Escpailly my hubby, he'd eat anything... almost. I wish though I could remmeber what we had. It's been 5 years now. Just like you. Hmmm LOL DH might I'll ask when he gets home from meeting the "tooth fairy" at the ATM. Good luck.

Just asked, nothing on the current menu looks familiar to any of us as something we had years ago. So things have changed, at least some.

Why would that be authentic?

Smoking bans in pubs and restaurants were brought in for Scotland in 2006, and in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2007.

I have to say, R&C was one of our favorites on our trip last October.

Our server was fantastic. My DH had the fish and chips, which he enjoyed a lot. I had the pork duo (with slighly different sides that what you listed), and it was very good too. The sticky toffee pudding was also great. We had an ADR for around 7:45 with Illuminations at 9. We we lucky that we got a seat on the lower patio so we were eating dessert during the show. It was awesome!

Last time we were there, the staff was very helpful. I had requested a waterside table when I had made the ADR. When I was called up for a table, they said "Oh, I see you requested a waterside table, if you want to wait a few more minutes we can have that for you". Sure enough, we got the waterside table for Illuminations.

Then looking at the menu, my daughter loved the idea of "bubble and squeek" (potatoes with onions and bacon). We asked if we could order that dish as an appetizer, and the waiter made that happen. It was very good.

I liked the food I had for dinner, and my wife loved her fish and chips.

We ate there last August and I had the Bangers & Mash and it was fabulous! My DH had the Sunday Roast and he claimed it to be good. We had great desserts and loved our meal there. It's on our list for this trip too!

I ate there on Jan 27, requested the vegetarian shepard's pie, and my wish was granted! Fairy godmother was the chef that night, evidently. Katie was our waitress, very sweet (and highly efficient)... Request her if you can.
