I find Stella is easier to drink than say Bud Lite for example.Stella isn't as gassy,but does it have a kick...

For what it's worth, mass-market European beer usually has the same or less alcohol than non-light American beer. So Becks/Heineken/Harp (popular European Lagers) have about the same ABV as Bud (5.0%). They have more flavor than Bud, but not more kick. Something like Guinness has a ton of flavor, but little alcohol (4.2%).

If anything, the trend in American brewing is towards more alcohol. Once you get away from mass-market beer, it's not uncommon to see ABV over 5.5% from smaller American breweries, with IPA's and other "strong" beer often up near (and even over) 7.0%.

If you really want beer with a kick, go over to Le Cellier and have one of the Unibroue selections. Somewhere in the 8-9% range.

Not any stronger, but I think the taste is awful. I tried it a few years ago because I know a few people who really liked it. It made my lips curl, and yet i love dark beer/ale/lager. My favorites are Guinness and Dos Equis Amber. Not that's smooooth stuff.

Stella Artois is by far my absolute most favorite beer. It's definitely worth trying. I've found that beer made in the US is just nasty.

If you find you don't like Stella- go for a Moosehead (Canadian beer). it's pretty tasty as well

I don't think Stella has any sort of reputation as being "strong". Around these parts, it's developing a reputation as yet another "mass market" brew. Several years ago, you didn't see it at all. Now--it's everywhere.

I don't like it much,(tastes pretty bland to me) but it's certainly better than a Bud Light---

Stella-Artois is nowhere to be strong I can know it, I can see the brewery from where I sit at work!!!

It's not uncommon to drink 15 of them on a night out... without passing out, although you better don't drive after that.

I sure wish Stella was easy to find where I live in MI. As it is- I have to drive 45 minutes at least to find it here. Usually I'll call ahead to reserve some because by the time I get there- it's usually gone!

Woow... I didn't realise it was that "rare". Over here, it's available everywhere at every time of the day, lol. It really is the "standard" beer, nothing special about it.
There are other beers though that require prior reservation too... There is one "trappist" (= beer brewed by monks) that is that rare that people living in the town where it is brewed are allowed to buy 1 6-pack, and if others want it, I think you have to be on some sort of "VIP-list". Can't think of the name... I guess because we never see it "out there" in the pubs or stores.


For Christmas, I bough my then-BF a "Perfect Draft" for Stella-Artois. I think it was the only thing that made him happy

Dani: I guess it's a regional marketing thing. Both our local Ruby Tuesdays and Applebees have it on draft. And the local Chilie's has it by the botle.

Sorry but I'm offended by that generalised remark about American beer(well..maybe just a little ) but we have some AWESOME beers in America. I could list them all day but won't. A few to check out are Sierra Nevada Pale Ale(my favorite on tap American beer of all time and widely available) anything by Rogue, Great Lakes, Harpoon, Flying Dog(all widely available but maybe not at WDW-better make a grocery/beer stop on the way). I've never tried Stella Artois but most likely will in Epcot.

I'm sure you're referring to the mass-market fizzy yellow stuff Americans call "beer". However you are living in a state with some of the best microbreweries in the world! Try something from Michigan Brewing Company, Bells, Arcadia, Dark Horse or any of the others and you'll see what real American beer should be!

Typically American beers have more alcohol than mass-produced european. So just because it's european, doesn't mean it will have more alcohol. That being said, I once asked about the guiness there and can not remember the answer... for some reason I want to say that the beers there were created for the american market and contain the same amount of alcohol as what you get at Ruby Tuesdays... Someone may correct me though...
Another poster got it right though when he said that Canada has some strong beers. If you're looking for taste, try the Franzikaner in Germany.... that is a great beer.

Something just dawned on me... why are they serving Stella in Rose and Crown?

Unless it's coming out of the fridge in a bottle along with all the other "standards" like bud and coors.... in which case, it's definitely the same alcohol content as at any chain restaurant in USA....chances are it was bottled here in America or Canada anyway.

Do they really serve Stella at R&C? I have not seen it there on tap. If they do, why would one want it when they serve Guinness, Bass and Harp on draught?
