We have a 7:30 p.m. reservation at Rose & Crown and were wondering what our chance would be of getting a table overlooking the lagoon w/ Illuminations? Any thoughts on how we can improve our chances?
Thanks and Go Vols!

From what I have read here on the boards, you can't even request a table by the lagoon, its what ever they give you.

my advice is go early (like 7-710) and say you'd like an outside table and can you wait for one?

Like Jubilee said, arriving early and asking would help..we did it in the past and it worked...they do say they cant guarantee you a spot though.

just get a table along the lake beside the rose and crown,,its not all theres..we get there early get food and a drink and relax,,its great,,anothere good place to see it is mexico,,they got lots of tables ,,go behind the mexicain pavilion food court across from the ride and gift shop,, great view..donnt like the foood though..

The policy changed a few months ago. They simply will not accept any table requests at Rose and Crown any longer, because of all the conflicts it has caused in the past. When you check-in at the podium, they now ask, "Are you willing to take any table?" If you say no, they won't check you in. Everyone wants a great view of Illuminations. Now everyone has the same 30% chance of getting one of the tables with a view.

Note that the restaurant has now taken over the rest of the tables area, so folks at any of the other 70% of the tables can stand and watch the show. They're no longer available for folks who aren't patrons of the restaurant.

You can ask when you get there. But you have to take what they give you, they will no longer permit you to wait for one. If you ask, and they have one open, you might get lucky.

The up side is...they invite everyone out to the patio to see the show. But no, you can't request or wait for a patio seat.

Just check in early and hopefully one will open up, but the food is really good there, plus you will get to go out to the patio to watch. I know we got to wait for an outside table but that was last August and according to these folks, that has changed.

well, i dunno about policy, but when we went last December, it was December 11 and we had eaten Le Cellier for lunch. We were so full, we had to cancel our 7PM Les Chefs reso but then of course were "kinda" hungry after 8PM. We asked at Rose & Crown and they did fit us in outside. It was DH, DD and I but it was a 4 top table. Anyway, I think a combination of patience, approach and "luck" would be needed, but if it doesn't work out, just check out the viewing area provided :)

That's an interesting change in policy, but I can understand it. Too many people staking out their outside tables hours in advance and not getting them, only to see someone like the PP slip in at the last minute. Not that that's anyone's fault--the restaurant can't control when people come or go--but I could see too many guests complaining that it isn't fair.

Do you think it would be a problem to say we'd take any table, but would prefer an inside table? Last August, it was so hot that we really wanted to sit inside. We found that we actually prefer sitting inside but going outside to watch Illuminations.

I suspect that they're respond to a request to sit inside with relief. ;)
