Rose & Crown - Pub food question

I am headed to WDW for the first time in 2 months and have been researching (ahem... drooling) food options.

My friend and I are huge pub and British food fans and are excited to try Rose & Crown. The problem is we are more interested in grabbing a few pints and a light snack than a sit down meal. We also have no clue what our time frame will be like that day or when we will end up there.

My question is: what food can be ordered at the bar? I would love to order some bubble and squeak and maybe a sticky toffee pudding. Or the potato leek soup if the weather is cool.

As someone that has worked in a restaurant I would hate to take up a table from a server if I am ordering a snack and a pint. Plus I would be much more comfortable chilling at the bar.

Thanks!

Thanks for providing that menu! My friend may be happy with the fish and chips but nothing on the menu excites me.

Since the bubble and squeak is fairly portable what do you guys think about me trying to order it to go? Or ordering it at a table and asking them to box it up? Of course I will wait for a table (hopefully wait at the bar itself) and let the host and server know ahead of time.

That way I get my food and I don't occupy a table costing the server (and restaurant) money. Why take up a table for 30mins for a $5-10 snack when they could fill it with someone spending $40+?

Disneyland is pretty good with weird special requests, I just am not sure if WDW is the same.

Thanks for posting that menu. Unfortunately the one thing I know I will be craving is bubble and squeak. I have my little heart set on it. I just want to make getting it as painless as possible for all involved. :( If it comes down to getting an actual table so be it.

Honestly, the waitstaff wont mind you ordering apps and drinks, sounds like you may order several drinks, and that will run tab up, so the tip will increase, they will have no issue with that.

1) I have not heard of Rose Crown serving B&S.
2) As I remember from my UK days, this is basically a way of preparing left-overs.
3) In the USA, most cooked/prepared restaurant left-overs must be discarded at the end of the day.
4) Maybe someone else can remember if it was ever offered at WDW.

I was wondering too, what exactly does the OP plan to order. There is nothing with that name on the menu. I assume you've looked at the menu for the TS restaurant and know they have what you plan to order?

Bubble and Squeak is a side, listed on both the lunch and dinner menu in the dining room. Is it roasted veggies?

It is usually made with leftover mashed potato and veggies, fried into a cake.

Have you looked into Raglan Road?

Better food, more of a pub atmosphere.

Pan fried mashed potatoes mixed with chopped, cooked vegetables like cabbage, carrots, peas, etc.

OP, have you actually eaten it before? At any rate, it is a side order, and might suffice as a snack. However getting it IMO would involve more effort than its worth. You would have to have an ADR, get seated at your table, order, and ask to have it boxed up. Then you could pay and take it away. But wait, theres more. You would then have to search for plastic utensils, since the TS restaurants don't stock them. The pub might have them. The fish and chips shop would. And then try to find somewhere in the pub to place your food so you could eat. Then you could enjoy your cooled/cold bubble and squeak.

The Disney restaurants are not set up for To Go orders. Sorry.

I have, but we plan to go to the Rose & Crown for drinks either way. Raglan Road would be less convenient as we only plan on doing Disney Springs our first night and Hangar Bar and Trader Sams are our priorities.

Of course I have had bubble & squeak before. I didn't just see it and think it was a fun name. ;)

I really just wanted it as a quick snack in the evening since we have a late lunch at Be Our Guest. I have no interest in doing a full meal there (well I do, it just isn't in the cards this trip). If I did I would be ordering the Shepherd's Pie.

And I had considered the lack of utensils thing. I planned on picking them up prior, and grabbing a drink (or 3) at the pub with my friend while I wait for my "table". I have no problem finding a spot outside, or if we still have our spot at the pub eating it there. I would make an ADR but I honestly have no idea when we will make it to Rose & Crown that day.

I just really want to order it in the least annoying way for all involved. I know it is inconvenient, but there is inconvenient and then there is INCONVENIENT. I guess I will just show up during my trip, talk to the host, and see what they recommend/prefer.

Walk-ups aren't impossible at R&C, if it's a low crowd day and you are there outside of the main meal hours. I hope you enjoy it.

The bubbles and squeak at the restaurant is a slightly different twist on the ingredient back in the U.K. Yes it is mashed potatoes and leftover vegetables. However, at the restaurant, it is made with mashed potatoes, braised cabbage and bacon.
Disney restaurants don't usually do to-go orders, as it is a table service restaurant. It is one of the gest ticket time items on that menu (around 10 minutes). There is absolutely no harm in asking if you could get one to go (you won't know unless you ask). If you do decide to try, when you get to the podium, I would ask one of the cms if you could speak to a manager, as it will be at their discretion. It could also depend on how busy the restaurant is. But if you're going in 2 months, I'm guessing you'll be arriving just after candlelight has finished? If it's during candlelight, there's no way they'll do it as all the table service restaurants who offer a candlelight dining package (as Rose & Crown does), will get slammed.

That is actually really good to know. I should just bite the bullet and make it at home. It isn't terrible complicated I am just really lazy haha.

I will be there after candlelight (Epcot on Jan 12th) so that shouldn't be an issue. Guess I will just play it by ear.
