Hi,
I put this question out in a general thread about The Rose and Crown but in case it gets buried I have a few questions about this restaurant if you all don't mind answering.

In EPCOT at The Rose and Crown:

If you are lucky enough to get a table on the patio are you surrounded by the diners from the inside crowding all around you? And is your view blocked so you have to stand up anyway?

If you do not get a table on the patio and want to see Illuminations how on earth does everyone inside have enough room outside?

Can you really, really see it from the patio?

Is the cottage pie for kids that I see on the menus the same as shepard's pie? Can kids get a small fish and chips?

Thank you all very much!

1. If you are lucky enough to get a table on the patio are you surrounded by the diners from the inside crowding all around you?

A. No, they are directed to a side patio.

2. And is your view blocked so you have to stand up anyway?

A. Not if you're sitting along the water's edge. Keep in mind that not every outside table has a direct view of Illuminations. Those whose tables don't afford a good view are invited to stand on the side patio.

3. If you do not get a table on the patio and want to see Illuminations how on earth does everyone inside have enough room outside?

A. The side patio is generously sized. People standing take up less room than do people sitting around tables eating. Plus, I believe that only the diners are allowed on the patio. Casual drinkers in the pub area must fend for themselves out in the wild.

4. Can you really, really see it from the patio?

A. Yes, you really, really can. It is a very, very good view.

5. Is the cottage pie for kids that I see on the menus the same as shepard's pie? Can kids get a small fish and chips?

A. Can't help you there, guv.

The night we went only a handful of people came from inside to the outside deck to watch Illuminations. We were sitting right by the front so they had no impact on us whatsoever.
I'm sorry but I cannot remember a thing about the meal.

Hi,
I put this question out in a general thread about The Rose and Crown but in case it gets buried I have a few questions about this restaurant if you all don't mind answering.

In EPCOT at The Rose and Crown:

If you are lucky enough to get a table on the patio are you surrounded by the diners from the inside crowding all around you? Yes, though crowding is probably an overstatement. I've never seen more than 3 or 4 families go outside to watch--most either aren't interested in seeing Illuminations, or they finish their meals and leave, not knowing about the viewing from the patio. And is your view blocked so you have to stand up anyway? I don't think your view would be blocked by people standing in front of you, as most of the patio tables are right on the edge or raised up behind the lower level. But it seems to me that some of the seats' views were pretty well blocked by the table umbrellas and other fixtures on the patios. If you end up with one of these seats, you could always stand up and move around to get a better view.

If you do not get a table on the patio and want to see Illuminations how on earth does everyone inside have enough room outside? Like I mentioned above, there really aren't that many people that take advantage of this opportunity. Most seem to either keep eating (and drinking) or leave before the show.

Can you really, really see it from the patio? Absolutely. We've done this 2 years in a row, soon to be 3. The first time, my dd was 9, and while she'd seen Illuminations several times before, she couldn't stop raving about how it was the best view we'd ever had. And we always request inside seating for several reasons. 1. We're there in September--way too hot to sit outside and eat hot curry. 2. You can choose exactly where you want to stand to get the best spot. 3. You can focus on the show without being interrupted by your servers delivering food, picking up plates, refilling water, and trying to take dessert orders.

Is the cottage pie for kids that I see on the menus the same as shepard's pie? Can kids get a small fish and chips? Sorry--not sure, but hopefully someone else will know.

Thank you all very much!

You're welcome!
