We were originally planning a trip just after New Years (Jan. 4-8) and discovered that the Rose Bowl is on the 1st and the BCS Championship game is on the 7th. Does anyone have any idea how much this will add to the crowds at Disneyland?

My husband is a medical student and we are trying to go between semesters so this is really our only option in the next 9 months. We are trying to decide if we should scrap the Disney plan until the next year.

Thanks!

Heather

I asked DBF right now (big college football fan) and he said the last time the BCS championship was at the Rose Bowl (2005 champions) the two teams went to DLR a couple days before and spent the day at the park(s). I know they do this yearly for the Rose Bowl game, but since the teams that are going to be playing in the national championship will be going it's more than likely this will affect the crowds. It's just uncertain what day they will be there.

Our concern is that there will be swarms of fans and media that will be filling the park. We went in Nov 2007 and it was amazingly uncrowded. We will be traveling with my siblings and their families and all of our children, who are all under the age of 10 so long lines will make it miserable.

Are we overly concerned that it will make that particular week at DLR comparable to summer months?

I have gone to DL during Rose Bowl season twice. The period you are talking about going will be leading up to the national title game. The teams will have visited the parks before you get there as they usually go one week before the game. If two outbid town teams are playing, you should expect the crowds to swell. I have travelled with the Texas crowds twice and there were a lot of us there. If USC is one of the two teams, then it clearly won't have as much impact. Jan 7 should be a relatively quite day as that is the day of the game.

It is a great time to be out there as there is an extra vibe. Hope to join you if the Longhorns make it!

Oh we'll see you if they make it! We're keeping our fingers crossed if they make it. We'll definitely be at DLR whatever day the teams are (if Texas goes, of course!) :thumbsup2
