Can anyone suggest a ADR time for the pub to try to get a patio table for Illuminations? I got a 7p.m. Is that too early?

We have ADR for 7:15. I plan on showing up at least 15-20 minutes prior to let them know we would love to be seated on the patio (it is our anniversary). I would think that if you take time, enjoy your meal and not rush, you should be good to go!

When are you going? When I was there in May, I had a 7:10pm ADR, requested a patio table, and even told them I was willing to share it since I was traveling solo. I had an excellent patio table and they didn't even take me up on the offer to share the table, even though I had told both the hostess and the waitress that I wouldn't mind. The waitress herself mentioned that she assumed I was there for Illuminations and to just take my time and enjoy the view. The area was packed and I only saw one couple get up and leave the whole time I was there. Most people were through eating and were just sitting around waiting for Illuminations and they were there before me. No one was budging from those tables. Of course, Illuminations started at 9:00pm during that time. I understand it starts at 9:30pm from after Thanksgiving until New Years because of the CP. I booked an ADR for 7:10pm again on 12/17/05 anyway and plan to try again for a patio table and then just eat VERY slowly. Of course if we do that, I will also be tipping the waitress more since we would be tieing up one of her tables. When I was there in May I tipped her 40% (since I was traveling solo and eating slowly), but I notice no one else seemed to be concerned that they were just sitting around, not eating, and tieing tables up. People who booked for 7:30pm and were hoping for a patio table were just out of luck, because again no one was moving to give those tables up.

In fact it was sort of funny. I was sitting right next to the stairs that go down to the lower level of the patio. A guy came out and tried to stand on the stairs to take some pictures. The CMs got onto him telling him he couldn't stand on the stairs, so he just squatted down and again started snapping pictures. They again told him he had to move off the stairs. A couple at the next table said something to me about that time, so I switched chairs for just a moment so I could hear what they said, and while I was talking to them, the guy sat down in my chair, without even asking, and started snapping pictures again. I wouldn't have minded at all, but my Sticky Toffee pudding was sitting right in front of him and I wanted to finish it. I finally just said excuse me and reached over to get it. He just glanced at me and said that since I was by myself and taking up a whole table, that he didn't think I would mind if he just sat down for a moment to take some pictures. He was really rude, acting very entitled.

It depends on when Illuminations is showing. If it's at 9pm, then 7-7:30pm should be fine. If it's at 9:30pm, then 7pm might be a bit early. Not sure if you could extend your dinner for 2 1/2 hours. I show up about 15 minutes prior to the PS, re-request the patio table and tell the host/hostess I don't mind waiting for an outside table.

I don't know, but get the Lamb Barley stew! It is so much better than it sounds!

It'll be our 1st wedding anniversary too. We are going the week of December 10th thru the 18th. If I remeber right last year I "think" Illuminations was at 9 p.m. So 7 would be a good reservation to 'try " to gt a patio table?

Illuminations is at 9:30 in December because of Candlelight Processional.

We ate at R & C in May. We had a 7:20 PS, checked in about 7:10, requested an outside table and were seated at 8:00, Illuminations was at 9:00, worked out perfect. There were people at the next table who were done around 8:30, they stayed for Illuminations, no one said a word. I think I heard the last PS was 8:00 that night.

We've had 7:40 and 7:50 and it worked out great :earsboy:
