What do you think? Will I be able to get a reservation at Rose and Crown on Jan. 1, 2018 at 9:30 and see Illuminations? This is our last night. I would like something special. If not, what time do you think I can book? Am I out of luck because of the Christmas special at Epcot? Thanks.

Nobody knows. Your chances are just as good as everybody else's
Book online right at 6 AM on your 180 + 10 (if you are a resort guest) ADR morning. You said it was your last night. So the later in your trip it is, the better your chances as you are basically ahead of others with the +10 benefit
Good Luck

Park hours haven been released for January yet, but the park typically closes at 9. You'd have to have a reservation around 7 to have an opportunity to view Illuminations from your table, I think, and even then it's only a request and not guaranteed.

I'm a little confused. Are you looking for info for New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) or New Year's Day (Jan. 1)? They, historically, end the Candlelight Processional on Dec. 30, so that shouldn't factor into this and they typically close (and have Illuminations) at 9:00 pm on January 1. If you want to do something special surrounding Illuminations, you are always better off booking an Illuminations event - the dessert party or a fireworks cruise - to guarantee a good view. On Jan. 1, the crowds will have diminished quite a bit and you could also just find a good spot around the lagoon. With a restaurant ADR, there's never a guarantee you will be seated in a good viewing spot. If we are talking New Year's Eve, however, that's a whole other ballgame.

Try to get an ADR time where if you have a good table you can take your time and if you don't get a seat you want you can finish eating and find a spot to watch the fireworks. I've shot for 6:50 as a guideline for 9 p.m. fireworks gives a little extra lead time for any seating delays and still have the ability to enjoy a relatively relaxed dinner if the table isnt what you want allowing you time to find a spot for fireworks.

We've gotten a Rose and Crown table for Illuminations a few time. Try for an ADR about 1.5-1.75 hours prior to Illuminations (not sure what time it will be on that date).

Generally, the last ADR at Rose and Crown is 1 hour prior to Illuminations (unlike the rest of the restaurants), because anyone that gets there 1 hr prior to illuminations won't be leaving until after the show (if you have a bad view from your table, they have a private viewing area to go to).

We've had a reservation for Illuminations a few times and usually select our time for between 7:25 and 7:45 for a 9 PM show. If you can get one of those times, check in as early as possible and offer to wait for a patio table. Otherwise, if you are seated inside or in an area without a view you can still view them from the private area.
