Rose and Crown?

I haven't heard a lot about them- We are thinking of trying Rose and Crown for our arrival night dinner around 5pm (not staying for illuminations)

I would love to hear your experiences and see your pictures!

We had dinner at the Rose & Crown in December and it was pretty good, overall. Our party had the scotch egg for an appetizer and liked it. We had the Sunday Roast (yummy), Fisherman's Stew (spicy, but good), and Guinness stew (small portion, slightly more peppery than expected, but good) for entrees. We shared the no sugar added fruit trifle and chocolate scotch cake for dinner.

Of the items we ordered, I think the only one I wouldn't order again was the Guinness stew because the portion was pretty small. I'm not a huge eater, but without sampling from my family's plates, I probably would have still been hungry. Otherwise the items were all very tasty. If you like spicy food, then the Fisherman's stew is a good choice. The Sunday roast was my favorite of the entrees this trip.

Overall, the food and service was good. Our waitress was very friendly and chatty about England. We've consistently gone to Rose & Crown and, with the exception of one time, enjoyed our meals there.

We are also going to Garden Grill, Le Cellier, and Akershus(breakfast) on other EP days.

Other options instead of R&C are Coral Reef, Chefs De France, and Tutto- any thoughts?

I've eaten at Tutto Italia and Les Chefs, but not Coral Reef recently. I like R&C, Tutto and Les Chefs. My family is all adults, so I can't really answer about how it is for kids.

I've heard that Coral Reef is neat for kids because of the aquarium, but that it can be slow.

Have you had a chance to look at the menus for the other places? Allears.net and wdwinfo.com have them posted (though note that they might change or have changed since they were posted).

At Les Chefs we timed our ADR so that we had a chance to see Remy. It's not a traditional character meal because he's an autoanamatronic figure and it's a pretty short visit. He's pushed around by the host/hostess and had a brief stop at each table. He's very cute and it was a lot of fun.

In terms of the food, I really like Les Chefs for dinner. The lunch menu is pretty cheese heavy. At dinner the braised beef was excellent. The prix fixe menu is included on the DDP, which is a good deal for us because we like the onion soup.

For Tutto, we like the lunch menu better. I would recommend the braised beef. All of the desserts looked really good and I liked the ones we had.

We just went to Rose and Crown earlier this month and enjoyed it. We have three boys, and our pre-schooler fell asleep during dinner, but enjoyed it while he was awake! The imperial sampler beer flight was fun to share with my husband and the potato soup was very good.

Garden Grill is our boys' favorite restaurant and our arrival night tradition - hope your family loves it as much as we do! We enjoy the food (we think it's improved in the last year) and the character interaction with Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale is some of the best we've experienced at WDW.

Akershus was fun for our youngest son's birthday earlier this month - he recently became a huge princess fan and enjoyed meeting Belle. The food was just OK, but we enjoyed the atmosphere.

We all love Chef's - especially for lunch when Remy is there. But we'd go even without Remy. One of our boys loves the mini burgers on the kids' menu, and we love the quiche, mac and cheese, onion soup, cheese plate and the bread. Great atmosphere and the servers have always been friendly.

We've been to both Tutto and Coral Reef with our boys, and they didn't care for either. I like the food at Tutto, but the servers were not as friendly with the kids as the servers at other Disney restaurant - I was there with my parents and brother when I was in college and had a much better experience with a dining party of all adults. We thought the aquarium at Coral Reef was cool, but it didn't hold the boys' attention as long as we thought it would, and the food was OK. Our boys advise to stay away from the meaty macaroni on the kids' menu if you don't like onions! Everyone liked the corn chowder, but I read that it's become a seasonal item, so it may not always be on the menu.

In the end, if you are choosing between Rose & Crown, Chef's, Tutto and Coral Reef, I'd choose either Chef's or Rose & Crown. Happy Planning!

This is my great-nephew studying how he wants to put together his mom's do it yourself sundae.

That last pic was after tasting the hard candy banana chip. He was under 3 and ate off our plates and enjoyed a great variety of foods from some of my surf and turf, his aunt's shepherd's pie, to his granny's bangers and mash.

We eat at the Rose & Crown frequently, the latest being Christmas. While not exactly like it was in years past, the fish and chips is still okay. It's one of our safe standbys when we're at Epcot.

We tried Rose & Crown for the first time in early Dec and really enjoyed it, more than I thought we would. Our kids are 11 and 8, DD11 is a picky eater, and DD8 has a food allergy that was handled just fine. We plan on going back this summer.

R&C one of our favs. Possible to make this a good, quick, inexpensive(yeah right!) first night dinner. I would prefer to linger over a Bass, listen to Piano Lady but kids beckon.

my kids ate really well. They are picky eaters. they enjoy the atomsphere especially how they talk with their accent. we had no problems with the kids which was very nice.
