How does everyone feel about this place?

Also, I heard you can make your reservation so you can sit outside and watch Illuminations - is this true?

AND

I don't like fish, or seafood, for that matter - so will I be able to eat here and like it?

I'm really struggling to pick my last ADR

We had lunch here just before our flight home to the UK and it was the worst experience of the whole holiday. I can remember DS having fish and chips and I had shepherds pie but I can't remember what DH and other DS had but I can remember DH being very unimpressed. I had to wait for my meal for about 40 minutes after my family had had theirs and the others had long since finished eating. we had to request 3 times before I got mine, in the end I could have happily left it. They apologised and offered to pay for the meal but we were on the dining plan and it was our last meal so that was no good, they offered us a dessert to take away (I thought it was an apology but when we got the bill it was added on). The best bit was sitting outside overlooking the lake, this would have been a prime spot to see Illuminations, but I don't think you can request a specific table when you book. I would never, never go back here again, it ruined our last day, we spent our last couple of hours of Disney magic sitting in a restaurant when we should have been enjoying ourselves.

We ate at 7:30 for Illuminations we did get a spot outside but you can be on a long wait for one. I had steak and fish and loved it but dbf had the vegetable stew and hated it although he did say he loved my steak and fish. Opinions on the place seem mixed.

We ate there 2 years ago and loved it! You may not be gauranteed a seat outside. We had the chicken with leeks, salad w/stratton cheese and fruit/cheese platter. I can't find the pictures at this moment, but when I do, I will post them.

For me it's a must do. Love many things on the menu, especially the Shepherd's pie. Service has always been excellent and the chance to sit and sip Guinness in that atmosphere is great. And the servers are always up for tolking about where they're from. Hate that Lizzy had such a bad experience but fortunately, I've never seen anything like it. Never been at night.

You cannot request to sit outside when you make your reservation - the CM on the phone will, or may, tell you you can make that request when you check in at the podium.

However, there are conflicting reports of the actual practice. Either you may ask but you are required to accept whatever table is available when your name is called, or there is now signage stating that Guests may not request a table location but must take the available table.

However, if your meal intersects with Illuminations, all Guests dining indoors will be invited out onto a viewing area on the patio.

We have eaten at Rose & Crown many, many times.
You used to be able to request a patio seat when you arrived at the podium. I think we were successful about 30% of the time, which I considered very lucky. As previously stated, I do not believe that you can even request it at the podium anymore.
We have not eaten at the R & C on our last several trips. I have been disappointed in the menu changes, and we have not been back recently.
To the OP, if you are struggling with one more TS in Epcot have you considered Teppan Edo or Restaurant Marakkesh? We think both are great.

I had my best entree of a week of deluxe dining at Rose & Crown -- the "Lamb Two Ways" which was rosemary lamb rib chops with the lamb shepherd's pie. Both were excellent, but the shepherd's pie stole the show.

We dined at R & C on the last night of our Sept 08 trip. When we arrived I requested a table with an Illuminations view (our ADR was for 7:10), the castmember said that there was no guarantee but he would see what he could do. We waited about 10 minutes & got a table right in the center of the patio with a wonderful view. I ordered the Steak & Fish, it was the best steak I had eaten at WDW (even better than Le Cellier). We have since vowed to make this our last night tradition.

We loved Rose and Crown! I had bangers and mash and my partner has the shepherd's pie. No fish to be found on our table at all. We sat off to the side outside and we thought it was a perfect place to see Illuminations. I know you aren't guaranteed a place outside, but I bet if you get there early and are willing to wait it out a little, you can get a table outside.

Rose & Crown Illuminations ADR is our first night tradition.
We've sat on the patio and indoors. If you are indoors, you can go down to their special viewing area. We order dessert and it is waiting at our table when the show is over.

Sometimes the food is good.... sometimes it is not. We have never been dissappointed with the cheese sampler appetizer. I always feel a little cheated with the fish & chips. You can get the same thing for lunch at the counter service for considerably cheaper.

This is one restaurant where we always enjoy talking with the waiters. They are normally pretty rushed, but we are not demanding, and since we are their last table of the day, they will chat while they are cleaning up the tables around us. They all have good stories about how they got their jobs.

We love the place.....But not for any of the reasons listed above.

For a quick, good lunch....You can't beat the Fish and Chips counter outside.

And for a nice cold beer on a hot day....R&C is my favorite stop !!

We chose to eat there a few years ago, hoping to score the outside table. No Luck. Plus the "viewing area" was more crowded than if we had been somewhere else in the park.

We were paying OOP and felt the food was not special enough to warrant the price and then with the disappointment about illuminations viewing ... I've pretty much crossed it off my list.

I love the fish and chips but those can be had at the outside counter service for much less. Nothing real special that I can't fix easily at home.

We requested an illuminations view on the patio. We waited for about 30 minutes, which gave DS time to complete a Kim Possible mission. We had an amazing table with a a completely unobstructed view of illuminations. It was not packed with people either. And, this was during Spring Break.

DS and I split the steak and fish and loved it. DH had the vegetable curry and said it was his favorite meal of the trip!

I love R&C - but here's a suggestion - don't base your selection on the opinions of people here - pick a place to eat based on the menu - if there are things you like on the menu eat there - then form your own opinion.

We went to Rose & crown on our second night last year. The last thing on our minds was Illuminations -- I'm not sure if we even had any idea what time it started. It was a crowded day at Epcot, and we waited about 40 minutes for our table. It was super hot outside, so I'd requested an indoor seat (we generally hate eating outdoors at restaurants at home, and this is my usual request).

When the CM came to tell us our table was ready, he told us we'd be eating outside. I said "oh, we'd really prefer to eat inside -- we don't mind waiting for an indoor table." He told us it was cooling down, there was still a very long wait for an indoor table, and that he really believed we'd be happy with our outdoor seat.

The table was dead center on the patio. We had a phenomenal view of Illuminations. The CM came by after a while and laughingly asked if we'd "minded" having to sit outside. We laughed and thanked him for the wonderful surprise.
