Whats the food like in the Rose crown? We were thinking about trying to book a terrace table for the fire works if the food is nice :)

I would say very average and expensive for what it is, much nicer places in the worldshowcase to eat - you do get a good view of illuminations though, if you can blag an outside table.

OK I worked in the Rose and Crown and some of its lovely. Not very british though and as said it is a lot of money. You can't book a terrace table. It's pot luck where you get put but if you are inside there is a standing viewing area that your server can take you to if needed. Meals are on average large and well cooked but it isn't really comparible to British prices and there is nicer food in Disney. The best thing on the evening menu is the pie collection (you get a chicken and leak pie, cottage pie and another one I can't remember) or the mushroom medley starter.

We are typical brits and had to go to the rose and crown to have our dose of british grub. I had bangers and mash and DH had fish 'n' chips. We found it average. It was better then what we thought it would be but its not like how it is in the UK which is to be expected. They had made a big effort I thought to make the pub feel very british which we liked, and speaking to the british workers in the pub was nice also.

We probaly wont do it again but its nice to say that we have!

We had fish and chips from the Harry Ramsden booth, then went behind it down to the lake. There is a great little eating area down there, which, if you get there early enough, is a great vantage point as its right on the lake.

Hi

We went last year. The quality of the food was poor. My dh had a cottage pie and it was the size and taste of a microwave meal. I had the roast dinner. The meat was steak which we could of thrown on the floor it would of shattered :rotfl: but we liked our view we were on the decking and could see across the lake. I would not go here again unless we were visiting the pub for a quick drink.

Just to assure you the cottage pies are freshly made each day but I don't think the chefs can cook them very well (they always looked a little over or undercooked). Also I assume by the Roast you mean the prime rib with yorkshire pudding? Or was it the actual steak one? The Prime Rib isn't very nice there. The steak depends on whether you ask for it well done or not (well done in the rose and crown usually means burnt or used to at least) :smooth:

Well we have decided not to eat here :) Thanks for all the info.

We ate there a couple of years ago, in order to see the fireworks too. I felt we were really rushed by the waitress and we were unimpressed with the food. I had the pie medley and found it very average and hard to finish. When it came to the fireworks, loads of other people "arrived" and our decent view was obscured - we ended up standing and straining and felt we'd have been better off stood by the fence for an hour or so to get a better spot.

Sorry to be negative but there are better dining experiences for the price you pay.

:guilty: :guilty: :cool1:

lol I hope it wasn't me serving you. That's the problem with the resturant. I think most people go there for the wrong reason (just for the fireworks) and then are disappointed. The food is not to everyone's taste and isn't cheap (after a year working over there all I wanted was british food and this was the closest I could find). The lunch menu is definately nicer than the dinner menu and although the dinner food is nice its probably not worth it just for the food.

Food - Expensive and poor.
View - Good.

We were able to ask for Terrace seating although this was a few years ago so maybe its changed now. Only thing was that other people kept coming in and standing over you when the fireworks started which was a bit annoying....

Hi,
Given our past experience I think the Rose & Crown is one of the most authentic restaurants in the World Showcase. Average food and poor service, where else could you be but in a UK pub... :rotfl2:

Mick.

Oh dear, seems like we are in the minority!!! Perhaps we are either easily pleased or are use to eating rubbish food :rotfl2:
