We have a ADR for the Rose and Crown at 8pm and want to be able to see Illuminations, so we need to ask or wait for a patio table. Is the ADR time too late to get one? Do people on the patio get there early and linger? How do we make sure we get a patio table to see Illuminations? It's our first trip, so we'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions???!!!

The 8:00pm ADR means you will definitely be there during Illuminations, so no worries there. You can request a patio, but they make no guarantees that anyone will get one. It doesn't matter though since if you're inside, just tell your server that you want to see Illluminations and they will take you to the Rose & Crown's private viewing section for the show shortly before it starts. The first time I saw the show, I thought it was ho-hum. After seeing it from Rose & Crown, I understand why so many people speak so highly of it. It was my second favorite restaurant of the trip.

I didn't know they had a private viewing section! They let you sit there to watch the whole thing?

You're welcome. The viewing area is off to the side of the patio, so you have to stand, but it is only for Rose & Crown patrons. And as I mentioned earlier the view is amazing. You can see them launch some of the fireworks from right in front of you out towards World Showcase Lagoon. They do not allow other park guests into that area and you have to be eating in the Rose & Crown dining room at that time to be allowed there.

For what it's worth, the food was also excellent. Amongst most of our party it was either the first or second best meal of the trip depending on what people ordered at Le Cellier.

Just ask your server to take you outside. For us, they served the appetizers before the show and the main courses after. It's one of the best viewing locations, and it's seperat from the patio with tables. :wizard: :wizard:

When we went we were on our honeymoon and they put us out on the patio in the right down in front. We could see the whole thing. It was amazing. However there are lots of places that are really good. I myself prefer over by China or near Japan.

The DW and I ate dinner there last year and were initially disappointed at getting an inside table. When we mentioned it to our waiter he told us no problem and before the show he got us two seats on their patio.
The view is excellent from there!. The beer isn't bad either.

We have been lucky enough to get seated on the terrace three times out of eight times we've had dinner at Rose and Crown. It is a wonderful thing when you get lucky, but even when you do they let you stand at the back of the terrace to watch the show.

This is a great place to see the show. I ate there in 2003 during the show and had a spot on the 2 persons tables next to the water... Great view. Last year I didn't make reservations, stupid, stupid stupid... but my next visit will include a "Illuminations" dinner again

Is this the old "secret park" from the Unofficial Guide? If so that would be great! We have 7:50 ressies and weren't planning on requesting a patio table but if we could walk outside for Illuminations we'd be very happy!

This DIS boards are the greatest! Everytime I've asked, someone has come thru for me! :cheer2: You guys are the greatest!!!

Should I call back to "request" a patio table or wait till I get there?

That I don't know. And to answer about when to request patio seating, it doesn't really matter. They get so many requests for it, that they can't accomodate everybody. which is where the preferred location comes into play.
