Hello,
Have you been here before? How is the food? Is it kid friendly? We are looking for a place to eat at Epcot with the dining plan and the options are so limited. Any oppinions/advice would be much appreciated. We will be traveling as a family of four (kids 4 and 20 months). THANKS!
Lesley

While we like to have drinks at the pub, the restuarant side is one of our least favorite in EPCOT. The food isn't all that great, very bland.

So. . ..if it isn't a winner does anyone have any recommendations for an EPCOT sit down that I can use my voucher for??

Lesley

we like the food there.. its not the best, but its ok.. and of course you can sit and watch illuminations from there which is great.
The roast chicken is fab!!

Yes, its kid friendly! All park restraurants are kid friendly!

Im not familiar with your dining plan... where else can you go? we have eaten at most restaurants in Epcot over the years..

We ate there, it was fine but nothing outstanding. We enjoyed Teppanyaki, Le Cellier, Garden Grille, SAI much more.

We ate there for lunch in October and it was very good, but not my favorite Epcot restaurant. I love Alfredo's, Le Cellier, Biergarten, and Marrakesh. San Angel Inn and Teppanyaki are good too. I've been to both restaurants in France, but not in a few years. I liked Akershus in Norway also, but I haven't been since they changed it to family style instead of all buffet. I'm trying Nine Dragon's for the first time next weekend, I can let you know how that is.

I think Biergarten may be included in the plan, based on these reviews I think I'm going to check that out too.

We eat there once a year. It is part of our Christmas tradition. Other than that, I would not eat there many more times at all. The food is decent, not great.

One thing, do not make a PS there just to see Illuminations. They have so many people that want to eat on the patio during the show that it is really difficult to get a table out there. The CMs seating you can not promise you a table outside. If you go there thinking that "OK" food will be fine as long as you have a great table for Illuminations, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Now, I am not saying the food is bad. You just have to be sure you are eating there for the food, not the show.

i am having the same problem...reviews i have read are not that great for the rose and crown, but the options on the plan are so limited. The brochure only lists Biergarten, Akershus and the Garden Grill, which is closed through June. Now there is the option of using 2 meals at either coral reef, or le cellier, but i have already planned to use extra meals for breakfasts.

I just don't know what to chose, but right now have rose and crown.

I guess Rose and Crowne depends on what you like. My family eats there every trip, we LOVE the fish and chips, and the shepards pie and bangers and mash are very good also.

If you like fish and chips, I would say go for it. Also, the mashed potato rolls that come with it are yummy. Anyway, I like the restaurant, so I thought I would put my two cents in! Enjoy whatever you choose! :wave2:

We have aten there for years off and on (DH loves the place)...but I have to say our last 2 trips (Dec 04 and August 04) the food was really MUCH improved over previous visits.

Another option for the dining plan might be one of the places at Boardwalk....we LOVE Spoodles...it is a short stroll out the International Gateway (it is faster to get there than to the other side of World SHowcase)....we think the food is excellent and it is one of the better dinner values on the dining plan. Rarely crowded, and the Boardwalk is lots of fun in the evening....makes a relaxing break from the park and then you can wander right back into EPCOT after dinner. There are a couple of other Boardwalk places on the dining plan also that might make good choices.

Just another option since the EPCOT choices are pretty limited at this point.

I would disagree with this statement. We have eaten at this restaruant every trip we have ever taken to WdW (13 or 14) - we find the food to be good... not the best in Epcot, but good.

We have ALWAYS had an outside table.. no problem at all for illuminations. We always go 1st for illuminations and 2nd for the food. To the extent that if we couldnt get an outside table we actually wouldnt go in..

That is what I am saying. If you will be disappointed or will walk away if you don't get an outside table, you are doing it for the wrong reason. If you go at a slow time, sure, you have a better chance. But don't try it during school vacations or Holidays. It is very difficult.

We are at Disney all the time as we only live 3 hours away and we always eat in the Rose & Crown. I'm very picky about where we eatand we eat out at very nice restaurants a lot and I really do enjoy the bangers & mash there, it's a must. We just ate lunch there again in January and we all enjoyed our meals. I don't care at all for the Teppanyaki Grill, we have much better here in town and I find the food here to be very bland and some of the other places mentioned aren't my favorites either.
My overall favorite places in Disney are The California Grill, The Flying Fish, and Le Cellier.

We ate there in 3/03 and enjoyed it. However I made a PS there hoping to get an Illuminations table and it didn't happen, so don't count on that aspect of it.

Our server was the best server we had of our entire 10 day trip; the fish & chips were very good; our kids (aged 5 and 20 months at the time) also liked their food (I think one got a hot dog and one got a pizza- and our server was just DELIGHTED that my 20 month old was gobbling up my peas!) . A manager came over and chatted with my 5 year old for at least 4-5 minutes. I would go again, but this time knowing that an Illuminations table isn't likely.

I agree, we've tried every time we go to get a table outside but have only been successful once and that was around 5 p.m. Most people will stay and sit around with drinks until Illuminations but that was a little too long of a wait for us. The food is not worth trying to get a good seat for Illuminations. And the last two times we were there were non-busy times.
