Today I had the bright idea to reserve a table at the Rose & Crown to be able to see IllumiNations. I already have a Le Cellier reservation for lunch, and I don't think we'll be able to afford both. Which would you pick?

Passporter says to reserve a table at Rose & Crown around 7:30, but 7:10 was the only time they have open. I figure we'll have to wait a little to be seated, and then we can have a leisurely meal, so we will be there while IllumiNations is going on.

Why not keep both and just eat very light at LC? Maybe just soup and an appetizer or dessert? You don't have to order a full meal. Being able to see Illuminations from R&C just seems more "special" IMHO. If you have to pick one, still go with R&C unless you really had your heart set on something specific at LC. You're lucky...I couldn't get ADRs for either one.

When we last visited WDW we booked Rose & Crown for first evening
[this was my parents 1st visit to WDW and our 2nd and we raved about the food in general when we'd came back the first time]
We will NEVER return to the Rose & Crown - server was not good, food was awful, poor portions, poor value imho:rolleyes1
My vote is def Le Cellier for lunch - that's one of our ADRs this time & we are looking forward to it - you can sit anywhere to see fireworks:rotfl2:

My DH definitely agrees with you (even though he is not here), we went to R&C last March, got to sit outside by the lagoon (it was a 5pm ADR so not there for Illuminations) and ordered the famous Fish and Chips. I thought the Fish and Chips were very good, however my DH thought they were like any other Fish and Chips that you could get anywhere else. The only thing he did like was the green beer that they gave him because we went on St. Patrick's Day.

We tried out Le Cellier lunch (11:30am ADR) for the first time in December and all four of us LOVED the whole experience. We rolled out of the restaurant because we ate too much, but it was fantastic. The service, the food, and the whole atmosphere gave our ratings an A++++. Unfortunately we are not planning on returning here on our upcoming March trip because we decided that we were going to eat on a budget and Le Cellier is a bit on the pricey side, however, when we return in Sept I know that it will be one of our first ADRs that we are going to make :goodvibes

Thanks everybody for your input. We have decided to just stick with Le Cellier as my mom likes the menu there better. Our original plan was to get some food at the Cantina de San Angel and sit at a table there, but since it will be closed, we'll come up with a new plan.

We tried Rrose and Crown our last trip in Sept. as we are trying to eat at all the Disney choices. We were a Party of 7 ages ranging from 13 to 65, and not 1 person cared for Rose and Crown. We would def have a drink at the pub though it was jumpin. We also have eaten at LeCellier and it was a YES vote to do again from the entire party. GL w your choice

Everyone has their own opinion/experiences so I will be the odd one out..:) We were at Le Cellier 2 October's ago and had the worst meal of our stay..raw meat, we were horribly rushed, service stunk..went to Rose and Crown and had a fabulous meal, great server and had a fun time. That would be my choice, plus you get a private viewing area for Illuminations. :thumbsup2

My personal favorite is the Rose & Crown.

I do have to admit, though, if you are going at a time when it is going to be really hot then lunch at LeCellier is wonderfully cool and dark!

We have never felt rushed at Le Cellier. As a matter of fact, I feel that the service is really slow there. That is nice if you are wanting to rest and get cool for a while, not so nice if you are with small children that don't want to sit around and wait.

Just my humble opinion, though!

We have eaten at both and couldn't really fault either. I would keep both as suggested. A little light lunch at Le Cellier and them dinner in evening followed by illuminations. Not sure if 7.10 reservations can stay at table for that or not.

That is what happened to me - My husband and I raved about R&C after eating there several years so I took my son there (he was on business) and the food was the worst I have ever had at WDW! I will not return there for a few years.

never been to rose and crown but i've heard the view of wishes is awesome but le cellier is suppose to be so good. maybe eat a light lunch there then go eat dinner at rose a crown? sometimes we split meals or get appitizers to split

I was always a big fan of Le Cellier until they changed their menu a couple of years ago. That, combined with the fact it is so hard to get a ADR there, made me try something else this last trip. We tried rose and crown and loved it. I would pick Rose and Crown.
