Rose and Crown and IllumiNations

Here on the eve of my ADR window opening up, I'm frantically thinking of every dining scenario that I could possibly want. And one that has occurred to me over and over is a late dinner at Rose and Crown in time for IllumiNations. But I'm all too aware that we aren't guaranteed outdoor seating, so that makes me nervous. IllumiNations is important to me, important enough that I've been planning to use a FastPass for it. The idea of having seats (and eats!) for the show appeals to me though. I've toyed with La Cantina de San Angel, but am not sure I want to stake out a table that early in advance, and I kind of want a TS meal that evening anyway.

If I secure a reservation for R&C around 7:45-8pm, how likely is it that we'll get an outdoor table? We're a party of three. I may or may not be wearing a birthday button, if that helps, LOL! (kidding)
And IF we aren't able to get an outdoor table, is it possible to eat at that time and scoot over to the FastPass viewing area before IlllumiNations starts? Seem like it might be cutting it close. What's the earliest we could book a reservation and still stick around for IllumiNations if we're outside, but make it to the FastPass area if we're inside?

My fear is being stuck in the R&C with no view as IllumiNations goes off. Ahhhh!

I'll be so glad when all these ADRs are made so I can stop obsessing! (At least until FastPass time!)

R&C has a dedicated viewing area for all diners, so even if you are seated inside you will be able to see the show from there. We typically get a reservation for around 7:30 (for a 9:00 Illuminations show). We arrive to check in around 7:15, and ask politely if it is possible to seat us outside. We add that we are willing to wait a bit if necessary. We have not had an issue being seated outside, but I suppose it depends on the night and the demand. Either way, it is nice knowing that you can still watch from a dedicated area and don’t need to camp out.

Make sure that if you want to see the show you tell your server (no matter where you are sitting) so they can help time the meal out for you to do so.
