I have some mild rosacea. Anyone have any OTC treatments/lotions/soaps that have helped?

I have mild rosacea as well and a few years ago it seemed to flair up. I used sea buckthorn berry oil which I think helped but I'm not 100% sure. At the same time I stopped exfoliating my skin so much, it was definitely irritating it. My skin got A LOT better, I still don't know if it was from the oil or because I stopped scrubbing my skin so much and it had time to heal. Who knows, but I guess it's worth a try, a lot of people swear by it.

It might help to try and figure out what triggers your skin. Cold and extreme heat definitely affects mine and make it worse. I keep my skin covered now when it's cold and I spend any time outside.

Have you tried any of the Perfectly Posh products? They have some soothing products and some that might be great for you. Maybe try the Good as Gold stick, Healer stick, or Honey Honey.

Try a sulfur based gel. There is one called Prosacea that works pretty well for me.

Otherwise, don't put lotions or creams and don't use harsh soaps. Use a sensitive formula facial cleanser.

Stay away from anything that has oil in it, as oil is a trigger for rosaesa. Keep your skincare routine simple using as few products as possible. No manual exfoliating.

Had roscea for years just aged out :cool1::cool1:

I took very low dose doxycycline every other month. Worked awesome & because it was intermittent no build of tolerance to antibiotics.

I have a mold case too. Mine got worse with eating bananas. Weird I know. I was also told wine can make it flare up too. I don't know how true that is because I don't like wine.

I have really bad skin to start with and I only use Cetaphil soap. I also don't use it every day. I don't wear make up much but when I do I only use eye shadow, mascara and lip stick. I avoid anything on my checks.

Mine also flares when I am stressed or upset. Not much I can do about that.

I hope this helps.

I had a bad case of roseaca about 3 years ago, as in didn't even want to leave the house. I Started using Aveeno Calming face wash. It has made a great difference. I do have a prescription lotion from a dermatologist to use as needed. But I only use that maybe once a week, if that. And only in a spot here & there. The dermatologist was pleased that I had started using it before I could get in to see her. Said she would have recommended it anyway.

Thank you for the replies! I'm going to try puriya cream. It was on Amazon and had almost 5 stars with over a thousand reviews. Fingers crossed.

My mother has terrible skin so I'm doing my best to take care of mine. Currently using oil of Olay face wash and moisturizer which doesn't make it better but doesn't make it worse. I think it's just all the types of foods I like to eat and of course I love hot yoga which extreme temperatures and exercising are irritants. (What's not right?). I just noticed my eye starting to itch and I never realized rosacea can be on the eyelids! Lovely!

I started putting my sons eczema medicine on my eye because it itches so bad (it worked) but I'm not wanting to do prescription Rx just yet to regularly control it.

I took a look at that puriya stuff because I have occasional flare ups. Unfortunately it has a pretty low score on fakespot for fake reviews.

I'm really skeptical of any "too good to be true" over-the-counter products for rosacea after I lived through this fiasco:

That stuff definitely helped my flare ups ... because it had steroids in it.

Oh no! Well. Here's hoping! :cool2:

I started to have turmeric daily, for a completely different reason, and mine pretty well disappeared.

And there are times when I'm off my turmeric because I simply forget and I can see the difference.

I also use the PM serum - use it in the morning - from Elizabeth Grant. And it might have something to do with the change as well. But turmeric for sure.

I have had it on my eye lids too. It causes my eyelids to swell (not enough for me to see) and blocks the oil glands that are on your eyelids. This oils is used to evenly distribute your tears over your eyes. When it flares up for me I get dry eye and it can be bad. They itch and feel like I have something in my eye. Since finding out about this a few years ago I have used GenTeal (I think that is how it is spelled) eye drops. They are over the counter and in mild, moderate and severe. You can choose which one depending on how bad your eyes are. I tend to stay around the mild and moderate. But have used the severe on occasion when it gets bad. I am sure you can use any over the counter wetting drops. I use this one because this is the one my eye doctor told me to use. He is the one that figured out what was going on. I even use these drops for my daughter that tends to get dry eye because she sleeps with her eyes open.

Cliradex is the best product I have ever found for face and eyelids. It treats demodex mites that are often associated with rosacea and dry eyes. It contains the active ingredients in tea tree oil but without the drying effect of straight tea tree oil. I buy it on Amazon but if you Google it, you can find the link and buy straight from the company. https://www.amazon.com/Cliradex-Eye...=UTF8&qid=1485449658&sr=8-1&keywords=Cliradex

If you haven't read about the demodex mites and rosacea, here is just one link: https://www.rosacea.org/patients/demodex

Edited to correct spelling of Cliradex. Just noticed my autocorrect had changed it to "climaxes" ( although that might help but I doubt it. LOL)

I really like the First Aid Beauty products--the Ultra Repair Cream and the Anti Redness serum

Interesting about the cliradex -- I came down with pretty severe dry eye practically overnight a few years ago. I don't have any redness, flakes, or other signs of demodex, just clogged glands. I've been doing the heat compresses until a few months ago, when my eye doctor put me on the new dry eye rx, Xiidra. I didn't have very high hopes, but it's made a huge difference in my daily quality of life, especially during winter. Give it a try, they give you the first month free with a pharmacy coupon.

That said, back when I was first trying to sort out the eye issue, I remember the tea tree oil thing and at some point I bought a bottle of Desert Essence tea tree oil face wash. I only used it a few times. (My glands were so clogged that nothing helped back then until I figured out the right way to use the compresses.) I'm going to start washing my face and eyelids with it and see if it helps even beyond the Xiidra.

Tea tree oil might help but it is extremely harsh on your eyelids. The Cliradex just uses the active ingredient in tree tea oil. Some dermatologist have recommended mixing a drop of tea tree oil with baby shampoo and washing your eye lid with that. I don't have redness or flakes either just itchy, burning eyes. The cliradex helped me so much. I then began to use it on my face and was shocked at the improvement on my face.

I edited my other post after I realized that autocorrect changed the spelling of cliradex to "climaxes." Now that was funny!
