We have one day in the MK and no FP for 7DMT. What time do they let people in the parks on Main Street for a 9 am park opening? Just trying to figure out what time we need to arrive.

I haven't done it, but information I've read says to be at the hub spoke that heads to Mad Tea Party by 8:15 for a 9 am park opening. That means, through security, through the tapstiles, down Main Street, and waiting at the hub spoke. The stampede begins as soon as the welcome show ends.

Thank you!

What CapnJacksGirl said. Exactly what we did. The stampede starts at RD and you are directed towards 7DMT and the line forms. We had a 20 minute wait if you don’t count the 45 minutes for RD.

However, on exiting the ride, the wait was 2 hours.

MK will open at 8:00 on a 9 a.m. open. You want to be AT the park around 7:30-45, so you can be toward the front of the pack that will be at the rope leading into Fantasyland.

Perfect, thanks!

We have generally come to the parks around 8:30, and went to the queue at the right of the castle. At that time (and this is on expected heavy crowd days), you will be behind about 150 people. "Most" of them will be going to the 7DMT. Please also note that it is not a super rush once the rope drops, since the CM's are walking ahead of you at a slow'ish pace, BUT there are fast walkers and sometimes runners from the back who try to get in front.
Even 150 people ahead of you will NOT make it too long a wait. We have done this 3-4 times and not waited more than 10 mins. As a matter of fact we prefer it cause we can leisurely look at some of the details inside. 150 people sounds like a lot but since there is no FP lines cutting in at that time, the queue moves REALLY fast.
By 9:15 though, the wait times are LONG.
In brief, No need to get there super early, unless you want to be the very first on the ride.

Kinda bummed out because I wanted to do this but MK is opening at 7am this fall every day. No chance I'll get in early enough for a rope drop.

Very true! If you are heading to Fantasyland, you want to be there early as the rush will be there. The other lands are not as crazy for the first 30 minutes or so

Does Adventureland work the same way at rope drop? Was thinking of heading up to Big Thunder at drop then hitting Pirates or Haunted Mansion right after. Depends on which Fast Passes we get.

That is usually the direction we go. My experience is that the Fantasyland stampede is by far the worst so SDMT and PP require an early hub arrival. Everything else isn't too bad so being at the hub spoke that most directly sends you to the attractions you want by 8:45 is plenty.

Helpful video showing how ideal it is to be at front of pack for rope drop. I would arrive at MK TTC parking lot 7:15/7:30 to get through bag check, monorail, and tapstyles to be waiting at entrance before gates open at 8:00 or shortly before 8am.

Personally, I prefer to already be at entrance to MK by 7:30.

Thanks for that video! I will definitely be at the tapstyles at 7:30

I would struggle to get there early myself with a 7 am opening!

If you get to the rope drop spot at 8:00 am to be the first on Seven Dwarves doesn't that mean you are really waiting for an hour?
