Rope Drop Strategy

Ok, we're really going to try to make rope drop at MK on this trip. So, if the park opens at 9 am and we're staying at CSR and taking the bus, what time do you experts advise that we leave the resort to be there in time?

First of all, great choice! CSR is our favorite and we're heading back for our 4th stay in June. We are HUGE RD people. You'll get so much in before the crowds start to arrive. We are at the bus stop no later than 7:45AM for a 9AM opening. You never know when a bus is going to be pulling away as you arrive at the bus stop, or when another one is coming. I'd rather be at the gate 30 - 45 minutes early, than arrive a few minutes before the gates open and be at the end of the line. We just find a line in the shade and park it until they open... Have a great time!!!

Get there early before the park opens, sometimes (not always) they might open earlier then listed if the crowd level will be high that day. Disney now "walks" people when they drop the ropes so its not a mad dash to anything anymore.

I love CSR! We stayed there for our last two trips. For a 9:00 MK opening, we would be at our CSR bus stop at 8:00, and we always made it with plenty of time to spare before rope drop. The timing may need to be adjusted based on when you're going, though- if it's a very busy season, you might want to leave a little more time.

The first couple of times we RD at MK, we arrived early, and I mean EARLY. We arrived at the gates around 7:30-7:45am. We would just walk right in. Didn't know that only ADR and BBB ppl got in early. There was no cast member checking adrs that early. We were at the castle for RD. It was a VERY happy accident and an awesome experience.

Don't count on that happening, well, ever.

Also, if you do go into MK before Rope Drop time. you'll miss the MK Rope Drop Ceremony. Some don't care... but, for others, that's the reason
that they arrive early.

Can't speak specifically for CSR b/c we stay at Values, but we are always at the bus stop at 8am for a 9am opening. We've never been late ! --Katie
