Rope Drop or late night?

Rope Drop or Late Night?

  • Early to bed, Early to rise. Rope Drop!

  • Sleep in and stay late till closing.

  • What's sleep? Why not do both?

  • Rope drop one day, late night the next.

  • Sleep late, parks during the day and turn in early.

Many people say rope drop is a great way to avoid lines. Others love late night at the parks. Trouble is, if you stay late till park closing it becomes difficult getting up early for rope drop the next morning. Or, some of us aren't young any more and doing the rope drop till closing thing isn't so easy!

So, what do all of you do to make the most of your Disney trip?

We always do booth, with a little nap in between, just depends on how the day goes.

Not an option... but I'd vote for:

Rope Drop - Nap - Late night!

That's exactly what I was going to say :thumbsup2

But if I had to choose just from the options given, I'd go with the first, though I am SOOOOOO not a morning person. Being in the Park at rope drop is the best way to get on as many rides as possible within a short amount of time.

I'm a "What's sleep'er" - well we do sleep, we always take a mid day break when park hours are 8am-12pm.

I personally am a "what's sleeper?" too, but DH doesn't feel about DL the way I do and he's much more amenable to doing what I want if I let him sleep in the mornings.

We just stay late, we are rarely there very early. We like to sleep in too much. :)

That a great question. While I would agree with other answer the dilemma with a mid day nap. However when at Disney I find naps hard. But I can go a week with 5 hours of sleep each night.

My kids are still young and last trip was over Christmas so we did rope drop, mid day break and left after the fireworks.

Ideally I would like to do

Rope drop, mid day nap, close the park

Next day head to DCA

We don't do rope drop because that is pure madness, but we arrive shortly after (within a half-hour) and stay till closing, no breaks. So I guess we pretty much go commando. At WDW we were walking up to 12 miles a days. (GF had footstep-counter) It was great excerise!

If there are Extra magic Hours, we'll stay for that too. Opening - EMH.

Depends.

Often we'll do rope drop to about 10/11PM w/o a rest or nap. Granted, our "trips" are usually only a day or two long. I don't recommend this for a longer trip, although you do get to do a TON of stuff in a short amount of time. :thumbsup2

Right on! This poll missed the #1 option if the parks are open 8am to 12m there is no other way to go.

We start napping when my son gets home from school and letting him stay up later about a week before we leave to get on DL time.

Now if the park is open say 10am to 8pm then naps not necessary OPen to close for real!

Do what is best for your family. At least once during your trip though I'd try to experience both. There are benefits to both early and staying late.
Enjoy!:wizard:

We mostly do both. I'm an early riser and Dh is the late night type.

This past trip, the first day we were up and out, in line for security and stayed in the parks until near closing. Same the next day. The third day we slept in a bit and didn't get to the parks till around 10, but that was because day 2 had been wet and cold and a lot more draining because of that. But in general, we're the go all day type.

It's rope drop for us, my DH & DSons are early risers :goodvibes

We usually leave right after the night show (WoC, fireworks, Fantasmic, etc).

I'm a serious night owl (as in rarely in bed much before 1am) so for me it's late nights and sleeping in. Usually I'll be in the parks by 9:30 or so though.

We always stay until closing none of us are early morning type. Once 10:30pm hits most rides are walk on so we get a lot done then and it's usually much cooler. I like the idea of rope drop nap then closing though I may give it a try this next trip especially since I imagine it will be very crowded.
