Rope drop necessary at EPCOT right now?

With so much construction going on at EPCOT right now, is it really necessary to rope drop that park right now in order to ride all rides with reasonable wait times? Seems like maybe crowds won’t be as high there as at other parks, but I’m strictly guessing.

Thoughts? Suggested strategies?

Construction isn't really a big deterrent at Epcot that crowds are lower. Crowds are only lower due to limited capacity. Park is opening around 10:15 and getting there at that time does give you a better chance of getting on the "big" rides faster. Once you got those out of the way you can take the rest of the park in touring mode.

I personally don't think so but it depends on how late you decide to get there as well as the amount of time you spend in the World Showcase pavillions. If you're a 1 loop of the showcase making only short stops and eating a meal there you're fine, but if you want to spend significant time in the World Showcase you shouldn't get to the park too late. Although there are only 3 big rides the shows and Spaceship Earth can be time eaters due to their length, and like I said looking around the showcase just evaporates your day if you're not careful.

I would suggest showing up before lunch and getting one of Soarin or Test Track out of the way and just make sure you do the other at the end of the night. I've found with social distancing Frozen doesn't get too long since there isn't a ton of space inside, so the line looks a lot longer than it really is. I don't think doing Frozen around the middle of the day will be too bad. So my strategy would be Soarin when you show up and do Livin with the Land while you're in there -> Do the rest of Future World besides Test Track that you're interested in (so Nemo/The Seas, Figment, maybe Spaceship Earth if the line isn't too crazy since it gets to a walk on in the evening, Mission Space if you're into that) -> World Showcase for as long as you want/need -> with about an hour left in the day head to Spaceship Earth, it should be a walk on. -> That should leave about a half hour or so to get in line for Test Track at the end of the night, I did this in December and waited about 20 minutes on a posted 45 minute wait.

What day are you planning on going? During President’s Day weekend, getting there early was a must if you didn’t want to wait in 60 minute lines for both TT and Frozen. On the other hand, if you’re going on a week day and it’s not spring break, the waits in Epcot should be much less.

What time do the buses start picking up at resorts and dropping people off at parks? I have read on this forum that they don't start running until 30 minutes before park opening which at the moment would be 10:30 for Epcot. Or do they start running 30 minutes before the "early unofficial open time?" I am at Contemporary so unless Monorail suddenly re-opens, it's bus for me.

Sorry, I can't help you there. We drive everywhere we go in WDW, so I have no idea. But if you use the search function you should be able to find all kinds of threads regarding that...plus I'm sure other posters will chime in soon.

In early February the bus picked us up 45 minutes before the official park opening time.
