Rope Drop FoP on 8am Regular Opening????

Arrrgh - was planning on getting to turnstyles at about 7:30 am for a 9am opening at the end of the month to rope drop FoP (have only ridden FP so far so want to do the line). Just saw opening time is now 8am (and of course I skipped checking for a few days so missed any shot to get a FP during the added hour).

For those who have done it recently (i.e. not at the height of Xmas season) how has rope drop been on 8am regular days (not EHM) compared to 9am openings? Not sure if everything just moves back an hour or because of the earlier hour or if 7:30 am is still 7:30 am and we'll still beat most of the later risers if we get there at 7 or a little after.

Not looking to be off the ride by opening - if I have up to an hour wait I'll be happy - just want to beat at least enough of a crowd so as not to see those 120 minute waits. (Riding at closing isn't an option on this day . . .)

For 8am opening I'd want to be at the park by 7am at the latest. Aiming for 6:30-6:45 will give you a good shot at beating out a lot of people

Just so you know, at rope drop they don't take you through the whole regular queue

You might not have missed the opportunity for a fast pass, as not all the fast pass times for these changed opening and closing times have been added yet. Also,

Can I ask what time you got there for the 8am opening? I'd guess that you don't see as large a crowd at 6:30 for an 8am as you would at 7:30 for a 9am (but that's just a guess) but not sure how dramatic a difference there is.

(Also - I did see an 8:50 FP for Na'vi so I'm assuming that the FoP ones were added and gone).

They are adding the ride fast passes one at a time. FOP hadn't been added when I checked a couple hours ago. Several folks have been checking repeatedly once the park hours changed. No FoP added yet.
The 8:00 opening had a few more people when I got there. I got out to the bus stop at my Disney resort an hour and a half before opening. The results were similar. But on the 9am opening I got off FOP at 9:00 and for the 8:00 opening I got off the ride at 8:10

Glad you mentioned that they weren't necessarily added all at once since it appears Na'vi was added earlier! Have my 8:40 FP reservation and just got about 90 minutes extra sleep that morning!

Just got 3 for FOP at 8:30 on March 1, trading in our Navi river journey fastpasses. App still shows the park as opening at 9am though.

That’s so good! I got my FoP fast passes too! Yay!
