Hello folks,
I have never attended a Rope Drop before. I will have the chance to during my next visit in Feb. I was wondering if someone can give me a play by play of what it is exactly and how it works.

We are AP holders so we will be able to line up at the gates before opening. Once we are in the gates what happens? what rope is dropped? is there a show? I am totally clueless....

Help! thanks:thumbsup2

Rope Drop (RD) is a catch-all phrase for being at a park when it officially opens. Sometimes there is a physical rope. Sometimes not. Sometimes Disney allows folks into DL before official opening and holds them on Main Street. Sometimes they keep everyone outside the turnstiles.

Not much happens either way. When outside the turnstiles they usually choose a "family of the day" to come inside the park and help with the countdown to opening.

At DCA it always opens early and holds people within a certain area around Soarin, GRR (for WOC FP) and LMAUA. Sometimes they have a rope to hold people at say the entrance to the PP bridge to go to TSMM.

We usually go every other Saturday .... In our experience, they always have a rope drop at 10:00 am to the entrance to the PP bridge to go to TSMM and CS

I did not say rope drop. I said rope. :) Sometimes "rope drop" does not involve an actual rope.
