Rope Drop Arrival Time

I will be in WDW September 18-25... Ive never been there for the rope drop. If MK opens at 9, how early should I be there for the rope drop? Also if they have EMH morning that day at 8 do they do it at 8 or 9? How exactly does it work. Thanks

I am always there between 30 -45 minutes early for rope drop. The opening show starts about 10 til opening I believe. On EMHs they do it only at 8:00.

Rope drop is the pre-show to MK opening. If you go to youtube and type in "magic kingdom rope drop" you'll see what I mean

Rope drop is considered the opening of the park. Depending on the park you go to if you get there before it opens you will be held up either at the turnstile or just inside the park sometimes behind ropes. When the rope "drops" you are allowed into the park and the park is open.

If you want a good spot for the opening show at MK then good to get there 30 minutes before. If you just want to get there for park opening and the shorter lines then we have had success arriving only 10 minutes before park opening (although you do then get a poor view of the opening show)
