Rope Drop and EMH?

We are planning a short 3 day trip - if the MK has EMH from 8-9, do they do the rope drop ceremony/show at 8, or at 9? Planning on going at 8 but I have a first-timer along that wants to see the "official" rope drop. Thanks!
