Rope drop and buying tickets

So we have decided to just do one day at Disneyland on out trip to California. We want to be there for rope drop to make the most of our day. Do they sell tickets at the gate starting at 8am for a 9am rope drop? Or not till 9am itself? Or can I buy my tickets the day before? From what I've read there's no real discount on one day tickets so I'm not sure if there's a better place to buy them. Thanks in advance!

Since it's just a 1 day pass I would just buy it online from the Disney website, print off your ticket and head straight for the park gate!

I would suggest getting your ticket before you arrive so you can head straight to the gates and not have to waste time getting tickets at the booths onsite.

Yes they scan right at the gate.
