... at midday. :scared: Feeling a bit sick and anxious at the moment!

hi debbie,
Try not to worry (easier said than done!). I had root canal done a few months ago. I absoloutely hate the dentist....hadn't been for 10 years......the procedure was completely painless......bit of a pest having to sit with your mouth open for ages but no other problems......they may only do a bit of it today, mine was done in 2 phases, they removed most of the nerve the first time, and then left it for a week to settle, and then the next appointment lasted about an hour, and that was when they did most of the drilling etc.

Like I said, try not to worry too much.....i found the whole thing surprisingly easy

any more questions just ask

good luck:wave2:

Thanks for the reassurance. A dentist totally traumatised me at 18 and I didn't go again for 12 years (hence the problems now). Luckily my current dentist is absolutely marvelous and I trust him completely.

Lots of {{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs!}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Deb! Good luck! I'm sure it'll be less traumatic than you fear.

Mike:)

Hope it goes Ok Deb

Dont worry you will be fine.
I too have had some root canal work done it didnt hurt that much. Honestly!!!!

More {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} - only a few hours and it'll be behind you :)

Don't worry - I had it done, twice, and it was painless. I had a brilliant dentist who gave me some sort of gas as a relaxant and I never felt a thing, I did have a giggling fit part way through though. Maybe he gave me laughing gas? :rotfl:

The only effect I had was a bit of an ache in the gum when the anaesthetic had worn off.

Good luck

I feel for you Deb, I really do.

I had a terrible encounter with a dentist years ago too.

But 3 weeks ago today I had a wisdom tooth out only under a local anesthetic. It wasn't as bad as what I thought (even though it was twisted, infected and too big for the gap intended).

Fingers crossed it all goes well for you.

Good over the counter painkillers are the red gel caps from Nurofen, kick in 5 minutes.

All over! It was fine - only took about half an hour. As I said, I've got a brilliant dentist. It's killing now, though, even though the anaesthetic hasn't worn off! I've just taken 3 Nurofen, but I think I'll get some of the red gel ones.

Thanks for your words of encouragement and support, guys. :)

Hi Deb!

Glad to hear that the work went well :teeth:

Phew - glad it's all over with, Deb. I'd have been pooping myself if it was me. I too had a butcher of a dentist when I was very young and it's something you can't forget, even when you have a wonderful dentist now.

Blow the red Nurofen, I'd be getting some red liquid of the wine variety down me:hyper:

Glad it went well for you Deb - now get some of those red pills down you :)

Ouch! Sounded not nice to me, glad it's all done and dusted now Deb. May the red Nurofen do the trick and the pain soon go.

Astrid

Debs,
Glad to hear it all worked out for you. Hopefully you are now back to normal re drinking and eatting.
Was nervous myself this morning as had my first arm block in hospital to help get rid of the pain in my left arm from the assault last August!!! After a bit of persausion, from DH, agreed to the op and had a nice heavy sedation. Don't remember the op at all, only being told to dream of holidays by the nurse as I ws being sedated. Apparently with sedation you can still talk and I was talking about WDW!!!!!! :hyper:
Claire ;)

Ouch! :earseek:

Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery :)
