We were thinking of renting DVC points and planning a vacation in the spring. There will be four adults and a six year old. Will we need to get a one bedroom or two? Thanks for any info.
You will be most comfortable in a 2 bedroom. I assume the 4 adults are two couples. If that is the case, you will want two real beds. Depending on which resort, a 2 bedroom will have two or three real beds plus one or two pull out sofas. It would be possible to do a 1 bedroom, but only those in the master bedroom would have a real bed. The rest would be on a pull out sofa in the living room, or a pull out chair AND a pull out sofa if you are staying at AKV.

Only the AKV has a one bedroom villa that actually sleeps five people (one king bed, one queen sleeper sofa in the living room and one twin sized sleeper chair). This doesn't include the value one bedrooms at AKV - they only sleep four, no space for the sleeper chair to open. All other one bedrooms only have the one king bed and one queen sleeper sofa.
You'll really need a two bedroom villa unless you get the non-value one bedroom at AKV.
If you do decide to opt for a 1 bedroom at any resort other than AKV you will need to provide bedding for that 5th person who would be the 6 yo I assume unless the child sleeps with the parents in the king bed.
You could do this with an airbed.
At OKW a 6yo might be able to sleep on the love seat depending on how bigh he/she is. You would still need to bring a sleeping bag or sheets and a blanket.
