Hey all,

Just back from the May 20th Wonder. My DH unexpectedly fell in love with the boat and wanted to book for our next cruise while onboard! Well, you could knock me over with a feather! He had never cruised before, but he said that the Wonder was like something out of his dreams. The art deco style reminded him of pictures he had seen as a child of his grandmother sailing on the Queen Mary (or was it the QE1?). He was enchanted and wanted to sail the repo cruise (I explained to him that it was a different ship, but a very very similar one). To our astonishment, there were Cat 9 rooms available (although only GTY) for the May sailing from Florida to CA. I thought I had read on these boards that the repo cruises had sold out?

You're right, both repo cruises were sold out within 2 days. However, it sold out because people booked 2 and 3 times, and for everyone in their family, in case they decided to go. Disney changed their requirements and wanted deposits paid in approx 8 days, instead of the usual 14 days. Alot of people were caught off guard, but also planned which of 2 or 3 categories they wanted and let the other ressies expire.

The downside of so many people doing that was that the occupancy rate on the ship went to 100% in 2 days, so Disney raised prices accordingly. I *think* some prices have gone down some, but not to that original price. Also, Disney doesn't plan to fill every room, so 100% isn't really 100%.

There is a thread for that FL-CA repo cruise, if you'd like to chime in there. Good luck, and welcome if you decide to do it.

I am sure there are plenty of rooms available. The cruises may have temporarily been sold out due to people making multiple bookings on the opening day, but once deposits were due, all the multiples went back into inventory!!

We were informed that Disney is indeed sailing these ships full.

It's true that there are still rooms available and the prices have gone down somewhat. We booked a Cat 6 the week reservations were opened up for the FL to CA cruise. Unfortunately, we were not one of the first to book and we paid WAY more than what people on these boards said they paid. Then when we were on the Magic for our 5/15 cruise, we checked into booking onboard to get the stateroom credit. There were about 50 staterooms available, and we got a lower price! My sister and I are saving about $330 apiece when you take the room credit into account. We were pleasantly surprised! So go ahead and try to book. It will be the trip of a lifetime!

This is the first time I've heard that!! Interesting.....

angelaj is indeed correct, I've been charting the prices since we got our 8/20/05 repositioning cruise within the first hour of reservations on May 5th. We have 5 in the family so had to book two cat 8s. The cat 8 with 1 adult and 2 kids (age 12) started at $5,682 .... on May 6th it was $6,982 .... morning of May 7th it was $7,282 evening was $7,607 and on May 11th it was $7,954.

Today, a cat 8 for 1 adult and 2 kids is back down to $7,467. Now what I find the most interesting is I saved my itineraries on the DCL website back on May 5th almost a month ago so I could quickly go in and check the price (just to keep buyer's remorse from setting in!) And bringing it up from the "Shop and compare" gives me the $7,467 price, but if I start a whole new reservation it prices out at $7,954? Does anyone know why that is?

Holy cow! We were quoted $4800 for two adults in a Cat 9 GTY. I am really surprised to see a quote of more than $7000 (almost $8000!) for three folks (some kids) in the cat 8! We had the onboard booking discount . . . but still! Why are the prices so all over the board?

I booked on the first day the FL to CA repo cruise was announced and paid $4,100 for 2 adults in an assigned cat 9. I also had a cat 11 for 2 adults for $3,100 but let it go.

on May 5th we booked a cat 7 for 3 people for the Aug 2005 CA to FL repo cruise .. $5602 total.

I booked a cat. 6 for 2 adults and a 2 year old right after they went on sale for the CA to FL Repo cruise. I paid $5224.67. I then transferred to Costco and got it down to $4802.67, which saved me $422!

I also can't believe how much the prices have gone up. Right now, there aren't any Cat. 6 cabins available.

I booked the FL-CA yesterday through DCL and they told me there was nothing between Cat 4 and Cat 11 available but they were going fast. At 8:00am Expedia said rooms were available but by 10:00 they had nothing left. I sent a request to DU and they got back to me today with a Cat 8 for somewhere between $7,000 and $8,000 (can't remember exactly, $7,400ish I think for 2 adults). Sam's said nothing was showing. I'm waiting to hear if I can transfer to DU or Sam's for a better deal.

There is a lot of fluctuation but at least yesterday there were a few available.
