We're landing fairly early on the day of our arrival and understand that our room may not be ready when we get there. We will have DS 1 yr 4 mos so it would be mighty nice if it were, but.....we accept it!

In your experiences, what's the "norm" for DVC rooms being ready for an early check-in? Anybody have some stats to back it up?

BTW, we'll be arriving at the same time we did in 2005 for our POFQ stay and THAT room was ready. Maybe we'll have the same good luck????? :-)

Arrived at SSR on Dec. 15 at 11:50 AM and they had a room ready for us. There was a alot of people checking-in at that time as well.

Denice...I see you are going to VWL for this trip. I haven't had much luck in getting into VWL rooms early. Okay, I haven't had any luck in getting into a room before 3:30 p.m.

I can certainly see why you'd want to have a place for that nap for your DS, and hopefully things will work out. We just haven't had any luck in our several stays there.

One thing...are you checking in on a Sunday? That's by far the busiest check-in day, and the one we have always checked in on, and that definitely impacts room availability. My guess is that someone checking in on a Friday or Saturday would have better odds of getting into a room more quickly.

Enjoy your first trip home. Regardless of room availability, you're going to absolutely love your new home! Let us know what you think of it, and we might even see you with a little addition to your signature! :)

arrived at Saratoga at 10.15 in Ocotber, direct from the Cruise Line, our room was ready for us ...

All across the board--several times room ready at 11:00 AM when we arrived. Other times not until near 4:00. This with a one bedroom at OKW and arrival date on Saturday.
We seem to do better if we have no preferences as to building location---.

I've gotten into SSR and VB before 12:00. OKW and VWL were not ready until after 3:00. I really think it just depends on how full the resort was and how many check-outs there were the day before.

So....I'm hearing it's a crapshoot! We are checking into a studio on a Saturday; maybe that'll improve my chances!!!! :-)

Thanks for the wisdom! I KNOW we'll love our "home"! We just wish were there already! 48 days to go!!!

In our experience it isn't a crap shoot... We always arrive before 11 am (just our plan). Out of 14 trips we secured a room upon arrival, and 1 time waited til after 2pm and 1 time waited til after 4pm. The 2 times we waited we had very specific room location requests.

I have checked it between 12-3 on most trips, and have always had a room ready... only exceptions were 2 trips to VWL where we arrived after 5 on both occasions.

We are not very specific about our rooms, just medical non-smoking and to be as high as possible and near an elevator if possible. But I also think my experience might be tied to room size. I think that studios since they are the quickest to turn over(clean) that they might have the best chance of an early availbility. I know in my case we always are in a studio and out by 10 am(and many times it is 9am), so there is a lot of time to get stuidos ready. I would think that larger rooms accomodated by more people(probablly checking out more toward check out time-but not always), and a longer cleaning time would account for a delay. Also depending on resort and catergory of rooms, there might be a delay.

We've always had good luck too when checking in around 11 AM. We typically use studios and request non-smoking and to be as high up as possible. One time we had to wait until 4 but that was during Easter and we checked in around 1 PM. Here's some pixie dust for you! pixiedust:

It's a crap shoot for us. Was just at the BW last week, and we had to change from BW view to Preferred view on the last day (took a gamble on the waitlist and lost). They told us that they'll give our room 'priority' because we were changing rooms. They volunteered this info to me...I didn't even ask about it. I registered for the new room at 9. We got into our rooms about 3:30. I wouldn't have cared, because I know check-in isn't till 4, but don't lie to me, and don't get my hopes up. Since the other people in my room had to be out by 11, why was my room 'with priority' not ready till 3:30? I've always had the belief to do something else when I get there early and just come back later when the room is guaranteed to be ready. I've had a room ready a while after 4. I didn't complain that time. I understand things happen.

My rooms are more often than not ready closer to 4 than before, and I'm always at WDW before noon. I have no requests on my reservation.

Our VB inn rooms have never been ready before 4PM. Our WDW studios, have been ready averaging around 1 PM, our 2 bedrooms have been ready usually by 3PM, but we lucked out with 1 Bedroom. Only 1 of those for us so far, and it was ready when we arrived at OKW at 9:30 (AM on a Sunday)!:goodvibes

We typically arrive around 11 AM.

Arriving on Saturday definitely improves your chances, but not so sure that's the case with a studio.

Sorry about that... nothing like expecting sooner and getting later. I think our luck comes from very little preference request. Really, our only requests ever is ocean FACING Inn rooms and NOT ground floor Villa rooms at VB.

Better luck to you next time.

We almost always arrive Sunday morning. So I think this theory is correct AND that it carries over into Sunday morning with FRI & SAT nites having the most vacancies and mousekeeping starts out ahead of the game first thing.

So, I think SUN is (IF you are among the FIRSTS to arrive) the 2nd best chance to get room ready early. But then Jekyll turns into Hyde and it quickly becomes the busiest day with most check-ins and longest waits.

You can see how my disjointed thinking works... But at least it still works.

I hope your theory is right, Rob! We'll be staying at Pop on Saturday night and checking into BWV early Sunday, so we can get our DDP cards and go to Epcot. I'd love to get into the room before our 4:00 P.M. ADR at Le Cellier, but if we don't it's not a big deal. I never expect it; if it happens it's great!

Well we never had any requests. Like I said before, I think it's all luck. This last trip when we checked into the boardwalk there was another couple with us. We registered the first day (around 9 also), our room wasn't ready, went to the airport to pick them up. We told them their room prob. won't be ready till around 4 because ours never is. They checked in around 12 and their room was ready. Our's wasn't ready till about 3:45. They were staying on my points so maybe Disney was trying to get them hooked (cue the conspiracy music)? We were both staying in identical room categories/views. That stuff doesn't bother me. I understand that anything before 4 is a bonus.

BTW, this day that I changed from a BW view to a Preferred view was on a Sunday.

This strikes a chord...I can't tell you how many times my DMom/Sis came in on ME after we were there, and we are waiting, and their room was ready upon arrival!!! It happens regularly. That's OK, usually we have lunch in their studio.
